We May Lose Because We Don’t Care About Our History

Over the past week or so I have posted a couple articles about terrorist John Brown and some of his leftist connections (yes, he had some leftist connections).

Some of the comments I got back from various places my articles were posted were, how shall I say it, downright abusive. Everything from “who cares about all this crap?” to comments that used profanity that I won’t go into.

Some of this made me reflect a little and I came up with the possibility that, at least in our day, we may well lose the struggle for our freedom because many on our side of the political and theological fence not only do not comprehend or grasp the importance of our history, they just don’t care. They are not interested.

What they don’t seem to realize is that if we don’t have a firm grasp on what has happened throughout our history they will never be able to fully understand what is going on now and if they don’t understand it they will be ignorant of how to deal with it. Yet many, if not most, seem to be at that point. They don’t seem to understand that what has gone before affects what is happening right now and if you try to explain that to them they get mad at you.

Over the past few years I have seen writers of fiction that grasp the importance of history more than the average American. Of course the way history is taught in most public schools does not help this situation. I’ve had people tell me “history is boring.” If you understand it, it really isn’t boring. But it is taught in such a way as to turn people off because if they truly understood our history then they might have problems with where we find ourselves today. The powers that be would just as soon avoid that problem. So history is taught in such a way as to make people lose interest in it and fail to see how important it really is.

People in their “history” classes in school are taught that the War of Northern Aggression was fought only over slavery and nothing else. If you dare to bring up the issue of tariffs as a major cause of that war then you are probably going to be called a racist because the establishment version of that history has no place for the tariff issue–and so you never hear about it. You have to do your own research to find that out and if you try to explain that to people, they mostly don’t care.

Even here in the South, our kids in public schools, and some private ones as well, are taught that their ancestors fought to keep their slaves–even though only about six percent of Southern folks owned any slaves. We are supposed to believe that the other 94% fought so the 6% could keep their slaves. Is this stupid or what? Yet most of us are too lazy to find out the real truth. It’s lots easier to just get mad at those trying to inform you than it is to check out what they are telling you.

The rationale today is to “shoot the messenger and ignore what he tells you.” Eventually there will be no more messengers–and you will lose your liberty because you were too lazy to listen when you had the chance. And when that happens I suppose it will all be Trump’s fault!

  1. The problem is citizens of the U.S.A., since our founding, has been fed Marxist’s historic propaganda. When one takes the time, like I have over a period from when I was 19 years old to now when I am 82 years old American citizens have been brainwashed to believe a perverted history that Marxist historians have sold American citizens. I know some think I don’t know what I am talking and writing about but is one takes the time to, for example, research and study Abraham Lincoln’s life you will quickly see that the history of Lincoln in textbooks, history books, articles, movies and videos doesn’t come anywhere close to what PERIOD DOCUMENTS say. Period documents provide we TRUE AMERICAN HISTORY researchers and writers.

“History is written by the winners!” Say many honest patriotic historians…

“Those who do not learn history are doomed to repeat it.’ That quote is most likely due to writer and philosopher George Santayana, and in its original form it read, “Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it.” Both are true…

  2. Most of the “lazy” folks who don’t want to hear southern or Confederate history are hating Yankees, or college indoctrinated southerners, or the perpetually offended snowflakes. They do not have the gift of observation. Keeps the stories coming. They are much appreciated.

Please consider the significance of this important spiritual gift of observation. As used in the scriptures, the word observe has two primary uses. One use denotes “to look” or “to see” or “to notice”—as we learn in Isaiah 42:20: “Seeing many things, but thou observest not; opening the ears, but he heareth not.”

  3. I am not surprised that we are losing and probably will continue to do so. There are a number of reasons, the first being that the entire section of the culture that “educates” and “enlightens” whether it is the arts, the media or academia is on the other side. It requires the individual to find out for him or herself the truth. It’s NOT going to be just “out there” ~ you have to dig. Of course, to do that, IT HAS TO MATTER and how many younger people today give a damn.

Secondly, the younger populations are all on the other side (with exceptions, of course!). Whether it is the Millennials or those after them, statistically, they are on the Left and the Left is our enemy. It was even in the days of Lincoln. So as we older folks die off, there are few to none to replace us.

Third, we have become a nation of cowards. People would rather put up with ANYTHING than put themselves in what they consider to be danger whether it is a faux virus with a 99% recovery rate or being called bad names like “racist” and “white (put in your own noun). It doesn’t matter what people actually BELIEVE if they don’t have the courage to act on it. That’s why Christianity is now becoming a target. The Left has ALWAYS hated the Church but its members also knew that in the past Christians would fight for their faith. Now they know that they’re more afraid of being called names (never mind becoming martyrs!) than being loyal to Jesus Christ! Their own “churches” have become bastions of “social justice.”

Yes, we’re losing and absent some Divine miracle and a sufficient number of brave people, we will soon find ourselves where the Russians and the Poles and the Hungarians and the Cambodians and the Cubans and the Chinese found themselves not so very long ago. The tragedy here is, unlike the Russians and the rest, WE HAVE NO PLACE OF REFUGE. Ronald Reagan said as much several decades ago and he was right. It would be well to remember that before they dig HIM up as they want to do with Lee and Forrest and the rest.

    • Lady Val;

      Good observation!

You wrote correctly, “Secondly, the younger populations are all on the other side (with exceptions, of course!). Whether it is the Millennials or those after them, statistically, they are on the Left and the Left is our enemy.”

That entire scenario was was brought about because of parent and government complacency. I have been writing and talking my head off that the Communist elements in American was infiltrating our Education Systems, specifically our Public K-12 school systems in the early 1960s, they were allowed to first take over the PTA organizations, then the Supervisor positions, then the school administrators and finally the teachers, although some hung on as I did who were conservative, but the majority of we conservatives were supplanted with socialists who began supplanting our K-12 and college/university/graduate schools with socialists and downright communists at all levels. Our perverted K-12 students have been brainwashed by communist social education since the early 1960s with no resistance…until now. That is why Bernie Sanders and other Socialist and Communist Politicians received so much support and votes…from young brainwashed Americans… And, nothing will happen that will change our education institutions until some influential politician, like Donald Trump, makes taking back and redirecting our Education Institutions, reinstate constitutional conservative values and curricula…

A black on American Government and Citizens, but sadly true…

Sometimes I watch or listen to the Mark Levin show. Generally its great and informative. But it always makes me squirm and want to scream NOOOOOO! because I have to look at Dishonest Abe’s picture that always sits behind Mark. — jtl, 419
