Shouldn’t That Carl Schurz Monument Come Down?

As some folks know, I recently did a CD lecture (a little over 37 minutes long) about the Marxist and socialist supporters and enablers of Abraham Lincoln. These were the sterling individuals (often along with their wives) that Donnie Kennedy and I wrote about in our book Lincoln’s Marxists. 

Some friends have been helping me get the word out about the new CD, which I appreciate, because people still need to be made aware of this leftist phenomena so prevalent in Mr. Lincoln’s armies. It’s still a subject that Establishment historians turn their noses up at because we are not supposed to know that much about it, much less discuss or debate it in polite company.

At any rate, polite or not, a friend up in Kansas City, Missouri had a buddy there who must have heard something about the CD because he penned a kind of humorous article about it and about the Forty Eighters in general. It was posted on https://camdenpoint.wordpress.com  and he had kind of a funny book-cover type picture with the article that portrayed socialist Carl Schurz next to the Communist hammer and sickle.

He went into some detail about Carl Schurz, his revolutionary socialist background, and also noted his wife’s socialist activity, part of which was the founding of the first kindergarten in this country. In one place he mentions about the 1848 socialist revolts in Europe and notes how Schurz and many others ended up here after their revolts fizzled in Europe. He says: “And so like many of his German compatriots who had played an important role in the failed revolution, many would soon migrate to the United States in order to continue waving the banner for their leftist cause of taking things from others by force and coercion (which sums up the modern socialism of Bernie Sanders and other politicians as well).” In spite of all the “positive’ swill written to praise the Forty Eighters as some kind of “freedom fighters,” the man who wrote this article has seen through that farce and realizes what they were really all about.

But something that really caught my attention as I read this article was a picture of a monument to Carl Schurz in New York City. And, I have to admit my guilt and confess that one of the first thoughts that came into my mind was–As long as we now seem to be on this national tear to pull down all “Civil War” monuments, wouldn’t it be only fitting and proper to pull down this monument to Carl Schurz along with all the rest? 

After all, if we have reached the point where monuments to Washington, Jefferson, and even Columbus are being threatened, why should Carl Schurz be exempt? After all, he was white. Isn’t that enough reason right there to remove a monument to him? By today’s rationale, it should be. The fact that he was a revolutionary socialist should have nothing to do with it–the main criteria for removing monuments today is whiteness!  And Schurz certainly qualifies on that count.

I’m sure that there will be many that await media confirmation that the monument to Carl Schurz in New York City has been visited by Black Lives Matter. However, should this group of worthies ever get around to visiting the Schurz monument, it will probably be to lay a wreath at the feet of Comrade Carl and to praise his devotion to “the people.”

You have to understand that, when it comes to monuments to old, dead, white guys, you will find that “some monuments are more equal than others.”

And keep your eyes open to see if Black Lives Matter or Antifa ever get around to the Schurz monument.

About Those Slaves In The North–?

We’ve been watching with bated breath for months now as those charming people in Antifa and Black Lives Matter have continued their Leftist crusade to smash and destroy all statues and monuments commemorating anyone in the South that might have been a slave owner–all the way back to George Washington and Thomas Jefferson. These two Founders, they now claim, have to be “de-commemorated” because they owned slaves. Were Washington and Jefferson alive and on Facebook today they would automatically be “unfriended” for owning slaves and would never be allowed to post anything ever again.

As I have observed this continuing line of Leftist drivel, I have noted that slavery in the North has seldom been mentioned, nor have Northern slave owners been referred to. Of course that may come later as the ethnic cleansing progresses to the next level and the white race  is thoroughly purged–all except for the Marxist white professors that suggested the purging. Folks, welcome to “reconstruction” part two!

Leave it to Professor Tom DiLorenzo to come up with some interesting facts in most any area having to do with the War of Northern Aggression. This is the man that pinned Lincoln’s hide to the wall, so to speak. You really ought to read his books about Lincoln if you haven’t.

He had some interesting commentary on Lew Rockwell’s website the other day in reference to Ulysses S. Grant and James Longstreet and their friendship before the War. Professor DiLorenzo observed: “What few people know, however, is that Longstreet introduced his first cousin, Julia Dent, to Grant, and the two eventually married. Before the war, Grant lived with his in-laws and was the overseer (‘manager’ according to the National Park Service Website!) of the slaves on the family’s Missouri slave plantation. As stated in this National Park Service site…about the old plantation that was called White Haven, ‘the Dents, Grants, and an enslaved African-American workforce lived on the property.’  The slaves were not freed until they had to be after the Thirteenth Amendment became the law of the land in 1866.  How rich is it that Ulysses S. Grant’s slave plantation was called ‘White Haven’?!  So the man chosen by Lincoln to command the war ‘to end slavery’ was a former plantation overseer.” Well, does that mean that Grant’s picture should now be removed from the fifty dollar bill and replaced with, say, Denmark Vessey? If you don’t know who he was, look him up. And who will they come up with to put on the one dollar bill when Washington is forced to go the way of all slave owners? How about W. E. B. DuBois, the man who joined the Communist Party shortly before he died? That would be a logical choice for those Leftists among us who will hoot, scream, and howl about “white privilege” until they get their way, no matter how ludicrous their demands. I don’t know if they are even still making the two dollar bill. I haven’t seen one in over ten years, but Jefferson used to be on that one. Maybe if they are still printing them in some back office in the capital they could replace Jefferson with abolitionist/terrorist John Brown–with a picture of the armory at Harpers Ferry on the reverse side of the bill.

The Leftists are totally committed to destroying any remaining vestige of the memory of anyone in the South who owned slaves, or who even thought about it,  but strangely, up to this point, they have said nothing about Northern slave owners or slave traders, and a look at the history will show conclusively that the vast majority of slave traders came out of Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and New York. However, the Far Left has been silent about that, at least up until now, right along with most of our “history” books. We have been propagandized into believing that slavery in this country was exclusively a Southern institution that all Southerners today should feel guilty about, and the Leftist take on all this is, shall we say, slightly less than accurate.

Even liberal Northern newspapers admit this much. An article in the Providence Journal for September 20, 2014 noted: “Among the report’s findings: Rhode Island’s  Colonial-era economy was heavily dependent on slave trading; a handful of wealthy Rhode Islanders, including members of the Brown family dominated the so-called ‘Triangle Trade’ in rum, slaves and molasses;  slave-owning was widespread in Rhode Island and other New England states during the 18th and early 19th centuries; and several of the universities early supporters, including its founder, the Rev. James Manning, and its first treasurer, John Brown, were slave owners.” They then go on to tell you that the man the university was named after was an abolitionist–as though that somehow cleanses the stain of those who were slave owners.

Now with all of the current Leftist hysteria going on about tearing down statues and monuments of people that were slave owners, I wonder, should that same game apply to Yankees who were slave owners? Should monuments (if any) and plaques that honor these men also be removed? It seems to me that what is sauce for the goose should be good for the duck also.  After all, slave owners were slave owners–North or South–right?

And, if monuments for men in the North who were slave owners need to be preserved, for whatever reasons, then so do monuments here in the South. Just a little something for us to chew on! I hope the Leftists don’t choke over their inconsistencies. Maybe we need to remind them of them before they stumble over them and hurt themselves!

Is Black Privilege At Colleges On The Way Out?

How many of you have been treated to stories and “news” commentaries about “white privilege” until it is literally coming out the kazoo? I have heard and read about it until I am thoroughly sick and tired of it–and most of the black people that try to chastise me with their pontifications about my “white privilege” seem to drive newer cars than we do and many have college educations, which I could not afford. I have often asked the question–just who ended up with all the “privilege?” But, of course, that is the forbidden question and you are automatically “racist” for even thinking it. It is, after all, “thoughtcrime.”  Says who???

It reminds me of the German socialist Donnie Kennedy and I wrote about in Lincoln’s Marxists, who, after the War of Northern Aggression was over, lectured Confederate General Richard Taylor about how to be a “real American.” Naturally his definition of a “real American” (socialist) was somewhat different than ours was.

And so it is with this “white privilege” charade. Many of the black “liberals” (socialists) that I have run across seem to have accrued lots more “privilege” than most white folks I know. It reminded me of when we first came to North Louisiana. I had a hard time finding work at first and one day my wife went to the nearest city and inquired about how you went about getting food stamps on a temporary basis if you were out of work. The lady she talked to was black, but not unfriendly, and she explained to my wife that, in this particular area, if you were not black, you could just about forget about any help. The help was for the black folks, not for the rest of us. So I concluded from that episode, which happened several years ago now, that part of our “white privilege” here was the privilege of being refused help that folks with darker skins got automatically. So please, don’t talk to me about “white privilege” because it’s all a pile of bovine fertilizer and most folks know it even if they don’t dare say it!

Along those lines, I read a New York Times article by a Charlie Savage for August 1, 2017 about the Trump administration preparing to “…redirect sources of the Justice Department’s civil rights division toward investigating and suing universities over affirmative action admissions policies deemed to discriminate against white applicants…The document, an internal announcement of the civil rights division, seeks current lawyers interested in working for a new project on ‘investigations and possible litigation related to intentional race-based discrimination in college and university admissions’.”  Question: if this document was an internal memo, where did the New York Times get a copy of it? Another “leak?”

It seems that this investigation may be run from the division’s front office, rather than the Justice Department’s Educational Opportunities Section. That fact may indicate a serious investigation. Time will tell, so stay tuned.

The Times article noted that Roger Clegg,  who was a former official in the civil rights division under Reagan, and then under Bush, and who is now president of the Center for Equal Opportunity, has said that this new project is a “welcome” and “long overdue” development. Clegg said: “The civil rights laws were deliberately written to protect everyone from discrimination, and it is frequently the case that not only are whites discriminated against now, but frequently Asian-Americans as well.” It’s a good statement, but I’d disagree with him on one point. The civil rights laws were not written to protect everyone–they were written, originally, to encourage exactly what they do now–promote blacks over whites in a typical class struggle scenario–just like “reconstruction” after the War.

Lets be realistic–whites are discriminated  against, in spite of all the Leftist howling we hear from the Swamp to the contrary. I know of one company, right here in Louisiana that had a job opening a few years back. Folks from all races signed up to take the testing program for this job. I was told that the whites who took the test got higher scores than did most of the others–and when that fact became obvious to the test administrators, what they did was simply to pitch all the test results and start over with an entire new group of possible candidates, one that was more “racially inclusive” (meaning a black majority) and they went from there. So, in that particular case, having “white privilege” meant you got to be excluded from trying out for this job if you scored too high on the test. That seems to be how most of these programs work out.

So, if the Justice Department actually gets to where they can do something about this situation at the university level, then I am all for it. Naturally, the Leftists among us (and there are too many) will scream and moan because one of their pet entitlements may end up being removed (the ability to get in whether you qualify or not).  But that one has been around way too long anyway. I have seen it in operation since the 1960s, before I even had a clue as to what it was all about. I’d like to see someone finally begin to deal with it, despite all the ranting about “racism” from those on the Left, who, if the truth be known, are the real racists.

What the “News” Media Isn’t Telling Us About Baltimore

Originally I had not planned to comment on this situation. There have been enough like it recently, all pretty much following the same pattern, that you know someone’s agenda is at work here. We’ve all heard this scenario before—the “innocent” Trayvon Martin, the “innocent” gentle giant in Ferguson, Missouri that just happened to be robbing a store when apprehended and now we have another “innocent,” Freddie Gray, who just happens to have a rap sheet as long as your arm. The innocence of all these “victims” is simply amazing and the planned (yes I said planned) moral indignation over all these is something to behold—unless you realize that the indignation over all of it is orchestrated.

I have often wondered—if these had all been white folks that had suffered these things, would there be the rioting in the streets and the willful destruction of private property? In some cases there might be some, but not to the extent that we observe in these situations. Let me state here that I do not condone police brutality against anyone—lawful restraint against anyone resisting arrest, yes, but brutality, no. Having said that, I feel there is much more involved than “police brutality.” And, as usual, our intrepid “news” media is telling us almost none of what we should be aware of and is parading the same old bugaboos of “white racism” and “white privilege” out there as some sort of exoneration for all the black destruction.

According to www.allenbwest.com  the population of Baltimore is 622,000. Of this number 63% are black. Now the “news” media spin on this is usually that those who occupy positions of “white privilege” are busily lording it over the 63% who are black, except in Baltimore the mayor, the states attorney, the police chief, and the city council president are all black, and 48% of the city police force is black. So the “white privilege” trial balloon isn’t going to fly here because most of the city government is in the hands of blacks. So they can’t blame this one on “whitey” although to give them their due, they will make a valiant effort.

Allen West (who is black) stated: “Everyone wants to have an honest conversation about race, so let’s us endeavor to do just that. Now, of course, when you speak the hard truth about race issues in America—and not just the liberal progressive talking points–and you’re white, you’ll be branded as a racist. And if you’re black, well, y’all just watch the comments below and see the denigrating drivel.”

But there are several leftist agendas at work here. The Marxist types excel at killing two birds with one stone while many on the right have not even found the birds yet. Someone sent me an email just last evening, the headline for which was: “MSNBC’s Al Sharpton demands DOJ takeover of police nationwide”  The article starts out with this: ‘In a video posted Thursday by the Baltimore Sun, MSNBC host and longtime liberal activist Al Sharpton demanded that police departments across the country be taken over by the Department of Justice. He also said it would be necessary to fight states’ rights to do so. ‘We need the Justice Department to step in and take over policing in this country’ he said…We’re going to have to fight states’ rights in terms of closing down police cases’.” So, in other words, Sharpton wants the utterly corrupt Department of Justice, now, thanks to senate approval, under the control of Eric Holder’s flunky, Loretta Lynch, to take over police forces nationwide. If you think you’ve got corruption now, just wait until the Justice Department assumes control. Baby, you ain’t seen nothin’ yet! The DOJ has taken corruption to a new level! But Sharpton being a far-left ideologue you can expect nothing else from him. I don’t think his leftist scheme, if it’s really his, will totally float, but watch and see if the DOJ  doesn’t make some sort of limited move (as the first step) in this direction. And of course to do this, they have to fight states’ rights, which is anathema to all Marxist mindsets. So watch for some sort of federal takeover of even more local affairs. Now it will be up to the States to resist this stuff. Let’s see if they are up for it.

So now they’ve issued arrest warrants for six policemen in Baltimore who were involved in the arrest of  Freddie Gray. And if you want to discover what sort of sterling individual Mr. Gray was you can go to Snopes.com and look for the “Freddie Gray Rap Sheet.” Even Snopes has to admit this is true and there is a list of all the items Mr. Gray has been detained for over the years by the police. To put it bluntly, Mr. Gray was a drug pusher. That’s about as gently as you can say it. Now that doesn’t justify police brutality if there was any (and reports differ on that) but it does go to show that Gray was hardly the personification of Snow White! The Baltimore Police Department was well acquainted with Mr. Gray. He had been their guest on several occasions.

The lady that will be prosecuting the six officers is Marilyn Mosby, the state’s attorney. There was an article about her and this case in the  Baltimore Sun, written by Doug Donavan and Mark Puente for May 1. It goes into how the black community seems to think this woman is a female personification of Superman, able to bound over judicial edifices with a single leap. And although the article seems to be positive in regard to her, it does note a couple problems that just might cause some concern. Their article noted “She (Mosby) has ties to the Gray’s family attorney, William H. ‘Billy’ Murphy Jr., who donated $5,000 to her campaign and served on her transition committee.  And her husband, Nick,  serves on the City Council,  representing the area where Gray died. Just minutes before Mosby’s news conference, the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 3, the local police union, called for an independent prosecutor to handle the Gray case.  Among the union’s criticisms were Mosby relationship to Murphy and her marriage to a councilman.” In light of all this, I think the idea of an independent prosecutor sounds like a rational request.

And I am sorry, in spite of what happened, I cannot see the justification for all the wanton destruction of private property right in the neighborhood these folks live in. I watched a bit of some of the videos showing the protesters going around smashing in car windows and store windows—any excuse for the destruction of property. Although I have heard that those responsible for starting the rioting had been members of the New Black Panther Party. Such would not surprise me in the least. Now that many of them have destroyed the economic base in their own areas they will go to the federal government and demand “help” to get themselves up and going again, and no doubt, the feds will give it to them—so they can feel like martyrs for having fought the noble battle against “white privilege.” Nothing but far left agendas are being advanced through all of this and the left knows, via prior performances, that they can get crowds of blacks in the streets rioting on any given occasion. They are cannon fodder for the leftists and for some in the Establishment—both of which apply the “pressure from above and pressure from below” on the American middle class, at lease what’s left of it.

Rev. Jesse Lee Peterson (also black) had a revelatory article on www.wnd.com a few days ago and he made some penetrating comments about our situation today. He said: “Just think about the latitude blacks are given to express themselves—particularly on race issues.  Blacks can say whatever they want about whites with little fear of criticism or backlash. Black entertainers, members of the Congressional Black Caucus, black professors and other black public figures routinely denigrate and stereotype white people. Contrast that with the muzzle over whites.” Rev. Peterson feels today that white supremacy is a myth but black privilege is real.

So as we continue our “dialogue” about “race” with the black racialists in Washington this trend will continue. It’s still open season on white folks, particularly white Southern folks with a Christian heritage and a states’ rights heritage. All that must be destroyed so the New World Order of Black Marxism can assume control, or at least until the black Marxists finally figure out they are being used—and by then it will be too late.Freddie

Has America Turned Into Amerika?–Conclusion

The first article of these two concluded with some brief commentary about the Cloward/Piven strategy being used on our Southern border. For those who may not know just what that is, I refer you to an article I wrote for this blog spot on that, but which also may be found on http://www.deovindice.org for July 10, 2014.

Basically, the Cloward/Piven strategy is a Marxist program for various leftist groups to use to overwhelm the US system at various points around the country. It has been used to advance several leftist agendas. According to the book The Shadow Party by David Horowitz and Richard Poe: “Poor people can advance, Cloward later explained to the New York Times, only when ‘the rest of society is afraid of them.’ Rather than placating the poor with government handouts, activists should work to sabotage and destroy the welfare system. The collapse of the welfare state would ignite a political and financial crisis that would shake the foundations of society. Poor people would rise in revolt. Only then would ‘the rest of society’ accept their demands…The strategy would be to overload the welfare system with a flood of new applicants and cause it to go bankrupt…The demands would break the budget and jam the bureaucratic gears into gridlock. The result would be ‘a profound financial and political crisis’ that would unleash ‘powerful forces…for major economic reform at the national level’.” Needless to say, a major part of this would be redistribution of the wealth, (Marxism).

If this socialist concept worked in regard to welfare, or voter registration, or other socialist projects, then the same principle could be applied to the situation on our Southern border–and it has been. Someone or some group has to make sure the word gets out that will draw enough people to the border that the influx will, basically shut down the system that deals with illegal immigrants. The situation has pretty much shut the Border Patrol down, in that it can no longer perform its intended function. Instead its main function now is to make sure all these illegals swarming across the border are made comfortable. If enough of them are continually made “comfortable” enough so that they end up staying, which is what our current regime desires, then that situation will work toward changing the culture of the Southwest, and eventually of the rest of the country. And that has been a major part of the One World Government agenda emanating from Washington for the past several administrations–be they Democrat or Republican. It’s a standard Cloward/Piven tactic. It works toward changing us into Amerika. And it’s not the only thing that does.

As I started the first article about all this off with my recollections of our trip to Dodge City, Kansas, in a similar vein, I have a friend who recently made a trip to New York City to visit with some of his family in that area. He used to live there. He noted, in a recent email to me: “Today the 5 boroughs of New York City could be easily identified as to who is living there simply by riding through them and looking at the foreign signage that appears above their store fronts…The former European community is nearly all gone, having been replaced with a variety of third world peoples (Koreans, Chinese, Russians, Central Americans, Middle Easterners and Indians” and he wasn’t referring to American Indians, who, after looking at what we’ve done to Manhattan, probably wouldn’t take it back if you paid them.

He noted that when Europeans originally came to New York there were no entitlement programs “…from which a Political Base/Party could advance using Socialize Mechanics as a means to a political/ideological end.” In other words, the Europeans, when they came, for the most part, although there were some exceptions, (the Forty-Eighters come to mind), didn’t come with ideological agendas in tow. They came for a better life for their families than what they could ever have in Europe, and they were willing to work for it. Now many of the Third World people come for the freebies our beneficent government hands out. The Europeans came to make their own way. There were no freebies. And so our culture is being changed from people who came to work and earn their way to people that come to take. That doesn’t mean that all the people from these countries are deadbeats, but enough are so that it’s a drag on the system. Now in California they are going to have drivers’ licenses for illegal aliens. How long will it be before we officially give them the vote–although with the big fuss some radical groups are making over people having to show ID before they vote, maybe we already are, unofficially. Pretty soon the only people who will have to show an ID to get to vote will be whites in the South. Everyone else will get an automatic pass because, after all, we wouldn’t want to “offend” them now, would we–whereas “offending” whites is already a major part of the game.

He also observed: “The English language newspapers were being replaced with foreign dailies and the multitude of various languages being spoken at the same time was as infuriating as it was loud and obnoxious.” Or, as one Iraqui said to the other in the cartoon awhile back “You’re in the United States now–speak Spanish!”

If any other race or culture besides white people were being beset by this planned campaign of cultural genocide in this country there would be massive riots, demonstrations, protests, sit-ins and whatever else was needed to call attention to the injustice. The “news” media would be up in arms and the political demagogues would be having a field day. But because it’s happening to white folks, it’s all beneath anyone’s notice–even most of the white folks! And we have all these warm-fuzzy liberal types pirouetting across our national stage and keening about “white privilege.” Folks, that’s all part of this campaign, and it’s one of the biggest buckets of hog slop that’s being peddled out there! Unfortunately, many naive whites, some of them Christians, have bought into this bucket of propaganda–up to their eyeballs!

There is a verse in Scripture which says “Insofar as is possible within you, live peaceably with all men.” That’s a sound admonition and many more people should practice it. But what do you do when the situation gets to where that might not be possible–when your adversaries have no interest at all in peace, except on their terms (convert or die) or “peaceful co-existence” or whatever their current terminology might be?

Ecclesiastes Chapter 3:7-8 says “(There is) A time to rend and a time to sew; a time to keep silent, and a time to speak; A time to love and a time to hate; a time of war and a time of peace.” The time to speak is long past–and we have kept silent when we should have spoken. And, while no sane person wants war, there also comes a time to defend your culture and the foundations for it, which are Christian foundations. And so the time of War may well be at hand, and it doesn’t have to be a war fought with guns. It may well be fought with the pen. If that be the case, then let us pray that the Christians have plenty of ink in their inkwells.
