The Disinformation War Is Now Upon Us.

Well, if you have been watching the frantic rush by the cultural Marxist media to censor Alex Jones off all their lists you have to come to one conclusion–this is one of the most well coordinated “spontaneous” purges we will ever see in our lifetime. The list of outfits that will no longer carry Alex Jones’ material is about half as long as your arm. Every media outlet from Facebook to Spotify is on it except Twitter and I expect they will fall in line shortly.

They will all give you noble-sounding reasons why they just can’t justify carrying Infowars.com any longer–but the truth of the matter is that http://infowars.com carries truth that they don’t really want the public to see and so they are all pushing to make sure the public sees as little of it as possible.

And as I’ve said before, don’t think they will stop with Infowars.com. If they can silence Alex then they will move on to censor Drudge, Zero Hedge, World Net Daily, Breitbart, Lew Rockwell and anyone else they feel gives the public too big a dose of the real truth. You have to realize one thing in our day about censors–they seek to hide the truth from us. The public has started, for the first time in my lifetime, to wake up to the truth of how this country has been screwed over for decades and the task of the censors is to make sure they don’t hold onto that memory by removing all the information pertaining to it and how it was done from public view.

During all my growing up years the only major “information” sources available were the New York Times (which printed all the news that fit) and the Washington  Post, along with NBC, ABC, and CBS (the communist broadcasting system). Those “news outlets” had the corner on the market and they  printed everything the Council on Foreign Relations and the Trilateral Commission wanted us to  know–and nothing they didn’t.

In the last few years the alternative media has blossomed, and along with it the alt.right media and we started finding  out stuff the “big 5” really didn’t want us to know. And along came the internet, which was really responsible for both Ron Paul and Donald Trump doing as well as they did.

But now the Deep State has decided that all this truth-telling has gone far enough–it’s got to cease as the Deep States agenda is in jeopardy. Can’t have people waking up and realizing what they are doing to them and starting to  push back. They need to start getting us deplorables back in line where we just sit down and shut up. So bring on the censors. They can shut down the truth-tellers and start telling us how much they hurt “our democracy” and “our (really their) American way of life” with the truth.

Don’t for one minute think the censors will stop with Alex Jones.  If they can silence him (which I hope they are not able to) then they will attack all the other people I have mentioned in this article and lots that I didn’t mention. I think their final aim is the total destruction of the alternative media in every way, shape and form it exists in. This is  to be a thorough, complete purge, Soviet style. I think that’s where they are going with this. A cultural atrocity until no one is left but their spokesmen.

And for the Southern Heritage folks that don’t think this has anything to do with them, all you have to do is look at their ongoing attacks on our flags and monuments in the past several years to realize that we are on their to do list too. How much of our truth have they censored out with their “Civil War was only fought over slavery” blarney? You all know what I am talking about and in your hearts you have to realize that what is going on now in the political realm will affect you and your children.

How many of you have checked out Infowars.com lately to find out what really goes on in the country? No fun, you say? Of course it’s no fun–but you need to know!

Then there is the plan that Senate Democrats are planning for a government takeover of the  internet. Why don’t you check that one out on the internet. Try to see what you can find on duckduckgo.com  There’s lots of stuff there you don’t see other places.

Make no mistake, the Leftists and their paymasters among us intend to institute, via censorship, a complete purge of all internet sites where you can pick up even a few grains of truth. It’s in the works now and one thing you can do to slow it down is to start viewing on a regular basis those sites they are trying to censor.

One Aspect Of the New Civil War–Censorship!

You can always tell someone is being effective when their adversaries attempt to have them censored.

Part of the civil war raging between the legitimately elected Trump administration and its adversaries in the Deep State/Shadow Government is the attempted censorship by the Deep State against any and all who speak up in behalf of our legitimately elected government.

A case in point is the continuing censorship efforts against Alex Jones and his infowars.com website. Whether you like Alex Jones and infowars or not, he has a right to be heard and to express his views. The fact that the Deep State (invisible government) in the form of Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and others of that ilk are trying mightily to have his site censored displays only one thing–he is telling the truth about them and reaching a wide swath of the public with that truth and they don’t like it. They are afraid that if he and others reach enough of the American people for a long enough time they will be exposed for what they are and they want to prevent that. So, in the name of combatting Alex Jones and his supposed “hate speech” what they are really trying to do is to cover their own backsides.

You can disagree with Alex Jones or dislike the way he presents some of his material, but he still has a right to be heard and you have a right to listen to and watch him and make up your own minds about what he presents. The Deep State seeks to deprive you of that right by censoring him out of existence.  When they go to the extremes they are going to in order to prevent him from being heard then you have to know they have something to cover up and hide. What they are covering up and hiding is the gross sins of the Deep State against the American people while Alex Jones is seeking to expose those sins.

So who’s right?  Well, the Bible, in Ephesians 5:11 states: “And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove (expose) them.” If you have taken the time to check out the works of the Deep State to any extent you have to admit that what they do are “works of darkness” that they don’t want exposed to the public. So when someone comes along that exposes those dark deeds their main inclination is to try to prevent that exposure so the public will remain ignorant, and therefore, gullible.

So, in order to conceal their own culpability the Deep State employs the use of some of its “useful idiots” such as Facebook, Twitter, and the rest and they censor Alex Jones for supposedly practicing “hate speech.” Now I have watched Alex Jones for quite awhile now and while he sometimes employs histrionics in the presentation of material, he does not practice hate speech. And the last time I checked, histrionics was not a prosecutable crime.

The Deep State wants to get rid of Alex Jones and infowars.com because Jones and his other announcers tell the truth about them and that’s a no-no. Us deplorables can’t be told about what the Deep State is really trying to do to Trump, or to us and so Mr. Jones must be chastised via censorship for the “sin” of telling us the truth.

Lots of folks will be tempted to say “Oh well, what does infowars being censored have to do with me? Look at it this way. If they can censor infowars, then they can also censor you should you inadvertently say something they don’t like. The whole idea of censorship in the current civil war is to deprive the public of information it needs. If I were you I’d think about that.

If I were someone that didn’t agree with the censors I would start visiting the infowars.com site at least once every couple days or so.

The first civil war in America continues, and part of the attack plan of the treasonous Deep State that seeks to overthrow the legitimately elected government is the changing of history. Part of that is the changing of names-city names, street names, school names and any other names the Deep State feels are not reflective of their distinctive anti-Christ theology.

And so all of our history must be changed to reflect their anti-Christian bias (which of course they claim they don’t have) and all they despise must go. So what happens if they finally manage to get rid of all they loathe and they have no enemies to fight anymore? Will Nirvana or the Golden Age suddenly have arrived? Well, not hardly, because if they ever get to where they feel they have vanquished all their adversaries on the Right they will end up turning on each other over such issues as who is not far enough to the Left and they will destroy each other. That famous saying “The revolution eats its own” is not all that inaccurate. Just look at Stalin’s efforts in the Soviet Union, or, further back, the efforts of many in the French Revolution who doubted the “doctrinal purity” of some of their brethren. After we are all gone, some of their heads will be on the chopping block, or on the guillotine.

But for now, their war of cultural extermination goes on against those of us who inhabit Flyover Country–a region they thoroughly detest. And, for now, they have to have an issue to throw in the faces of the “great unwashed” that will exhibit their moral purity–and one issue they depend upon for that is the slavery issue.

So they parade forth in all their moral greatness, and in the form of Austin’s Equity Office, in Austin, Texas, where they have now decided, in their enlightened Illuminism, that the name of the city of Austin must be changed because Stephen Austin, the Father of Texas, once opposed an attempt by Mexico to ban slavery in the province of Texas. There are several other things they would like to change also because, whatever they are, they are all named after people who were slave owners. Everyone who understands the theology of the Left knows that, in their “bible” the ownership of slaves was the one unforgivable sin. Every other sin is forgivable except the one. The theology of the Left is okay with rape, murder, robbery, lying, cheating–all these are Leftist virtues–if done for causes that advance their agenda. They have no problem with slavery if Leftist governments do it, but private ownership of slaves is beyond the pale! Private ownership of anything is beyond the pale.

The Office of Equity in Austin, Texas realizes they will get some pushback, but they defended their proposals as a noble attempt to do away with “whitewashing history.” They realize public hearings will be needed to change street names and such, but “…a name change for the city would require an election in order to strike ‘Austin’ from the city’s charter and have it replaced with a new name.” Of course if they could get a bill passed in Texas to let illegal aliens and non-citizens vote, they just might bring it off. Texans need to watch out for such movements and strongly oppose them.

If they manage to get the name of Austin changed, who knows where they will go next. Could San Antonio become the new Santa Anna City or El Paso the new Engleside (for those who don’t know, Friedrich Engels was Karl Marx’s partner in crime.

For those who don’t grasp all the fine points of this argument, you need to realize one thing. A war, civil or otherwise, on your culture and heritage is a war against you and your children. Your children have a history, culture, and heritage and those who war against you and your country are trying to take that away from them! If you don’t get anything else from this article–please understand that!

Our First Civil War is a Culture War

I continue to see articles on the internet about how we are now engaged in our second civil war, and although the folks that write most of them are sincere and present some interesting facts, I have to disagree with them on that one point.

Our first “civil war” was not  truly a civil war. It was a War of Northern Aggression to prevent Southern  independence.

I recently read a good article on https://spectator.org/americas-next-civil-war-will-be-worse-than-our-last/  It was a good article, but the author made a statement on page 2 that showed it was not a “civil war” and I doubt he even noticed. He stated, accurately, that “In the end, the war was fought over a single legal issue: whether the states that had freely ratified the Constitution to form the Union could freely leave the Union if they felt it no longer served their interests.” That comment alone takes the War of Northern Aggression out of the category of a civil war in which both sides are contending for the control of one government. That was not the case. The South had no interest in controlling the federal government—all they wanted to do was to separate themselves from it.

The author of the Spectator articles notes that: “The difference between the America of today and the America of what seems like just yesterday is that we once had a common culture” even through the War of Northern Aggression. To be sure, there were differences, even theological differences between North and South, and the author observes this, but for all of that there had been a common culture. Today, whatever commonality there had been is fast disappearing.  He notes that “Today, however, our divisions are so deep and fundamental that Americans cannot even agree on what marriage is or what a man and a woman is (which is pretty darn fundamental).” Well, it used to be fundamental until the Marxist college professors stuck their noses into it. Now it’s all up for grabs and college students are being taught “politically correct” (culturally Marxist) drivel that wouldn’t have been imagined fifty years ago except by the folks at the Frankfurt School. So our culture has been played with, twisted, and is in the  process of being turned into something no one in his right mind wants to see happen. The war on all things Confederate is part of this cultural shift. The author mentions the “lunatic self-righteousness of the Left” among whom “disagreement is bigotry to be prohibited by law or even condemned and prosecuted as treason.” He says that this is a “fire that will not easily be quenched and cannot be reached by cool waters of rational argument.” He’s right there. The Left will brook no disagreement and you cannot rationalize with them. They have an agenda, provided to them by the One World Government people who finance them and you are wasting your time trying to debate with them. All you can do is resist them with the truth and do it in such a way that you can reach that broad group of people in the middle,  most of  whom will not realize we are currently in a civil war until the storm troopers march up to their houses and demand their firearms on pain of death!

Another part of the civil war to change our culture is the concept of voting rights for non-citizens, which several liberal cities are pushing. If they get enough people to fall for that one the non-citizens who voted will end up helping to change our culture just the same  way as giving illegal immigrants the vote will end up changing our culture. Think we are not involved in a civil war, even as I write this?  Check out an article by Paul Craig Roberts on https://www.lewrockwell.com for July 27^th 2018. Mr. Roberts, who has followed national trends for decades, notes that: “The evidence is overwhelming that CIA director John Brennan, FBI director James Comey, Robert Mueller, James Clapper, Andrew McCabe, Peter Strzok, Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, and the Democratic National Committee are engaged in high treason against the American people and the President of the United States and are actively engaged in a plot to overthrow the President of the United States. Yet the traitorous intelligence officials  retain their high security clearances and have not been indicted, arrested,  and put on trial for high treason.” We have a culture in Washington that is totally okay with this. Civil war against the President and the American people is perfectly alright—as long as the denizens of the Deep State win.

That is the culture that persists in our present civil war—our first civil war. Will the American people be awakened enough to realize this is a civil war they may end up having to fight in—and I’m not just talking about using guns. That’s a good question.

The Real Civil War Is On! (But lot’s of folks don’t realize it yet)

Just saw an interesting article by Tom Luongo on https://tomluongo.me/2018/07/20/in-u-s-sometimes-cia-eat-you/  about how we are, at this point, in the preliminary stages of our first civil war. Mr. Luongo correctly notes that the Lincoln atrocity in 1861-65 was not a civil war but was rather a war to prevent Southern independence with Northern aggression.

He notes that a real civil war is one where both sides fight for control of the existing government. And you have to admit, that is what we have at this point. The fight goes on daily, in the prostitute press and on the streets and in the halls of Congress.

Luongo observed, correctly, that “Since Donald Trump held his press conference in Helsinki next to Russian President Vladimir Putin the cries of ‘treason’ have been escalating. With each article written and each cable news segment aired, the position of our leaders in government became clear. ‘We decide what the function of this government is, not you.’ All Statist arguments boil down to the State saves the savage rabble from themselves. Thus forms the ideological core of this conflict between The People and The Government, but really this is about power. And The People want theirs back.”

On one side stands the Deep State Establishment–the FBI, the CIA, the NSA and various foundation-supported Leftist stooges and their profligate “news” media. On the other side, as Luongo puts it are: “our agent, Donald Trump” and us deplorables. It’s a bit of a different twist than our first pseudo “civil war” where Lincoln, Seward, Stanton and the whole Washington Establishment were against us ordinary folks, whether we lived in the North or the South. But, then, that one was all about power, too. All that blather about freeing the slaves was just window dressing. The real name of the game was changing our history, culture, and form of government.

It worked then, although there was resistance. There is also resistance this time. We just have to wait and see if there is enough to preserve the shreds of our culture that are left or if, due to our apostasy, the Lord will be pleased to let it all go down the tubes as He did for Israel in 70AD.

As of now, our current civil war is mostly a war of information–America’s patriots against the Leviathan of the Deep State and its rather slimy Swamp Creatures. The only ones using guns and partaking of violence are the Deep State’s stooges over on the Far Left–the folks that preach gun control and love and–whatever. They can mostly get by with violence where ordinary folks can’t because of the double standard of our current “Justice” system. And if you don’t think there’s a double standard you just haven’t been paying attention for the last 50 years. Ask yourself why Hillary is still walking around while people who have done one tenth of what she has done are sitting in the slammer in solitary confinement.

I am afraid, not too far down the road, this current civil war we are all involved in whether we want to be or not, will get beyond the information stage as the Deep State folks finally decide that they are going to really show us who runs the show. Shades of 1776 and 1861! Those folks who want to just go and hide somewhere and not get involved are going to be forced to choose one side or the other. Conditions will not allow them to be “mugwumps” with their mug on one side of the fence and their wump on the other!

Another “Summer of Rage?”

As our new “Civil War” heats up, promoted by the Hard Left and its financiers, we are being told to expect another “Summer of Rage” to envelop us. This will not be the first, nor will it be the last, I’m afraid.

As of this writing (5:30 pm, central standard time) the major Leftist thrust for Independence Day has so far failed to materialize. Maybe enough exposure of Leftist plans allowed them to realize many were onto their game and so they had better change their agenda for the day. Now we have morphed into a “summer of rage” which they probably figure will give them enough time to raise particular hell around the country as those who pay them produce an ongoing script for them to follow.

Remember, we are still in the “pressure from above and pressure from below” mode I have noted in several articles.

One of the major thrusts for the next several weeks will be the Leftist campaign to shut down the Immigration & Customs Enforcement Department will would give us open borders–a Leftist dream and one for Hillary and Company as well. All the better to change your culture with my dear! That’s a big part of the game–the change from cultural Americanism to cultural Marxism. It’s been going on for a long time now. However, more are becoming aware of it and so the Left is ramping up the time frame for it. They’d like to have millions more illegal aliens in this country in time to vote in the mid-term elections. And don’t for a minute think that their being illegals will have any bearing whatever on whether they get to vote or not. That they will vote if the Left can get them across our Southern border is a foregone conclusion.

Then, again, there is Mr. Trump’s new Supreme Court nominee, the one the ever-svelte Michael Moore wants to throw his body on the line around Washington to protest. Knowing the Left, everyone in it from the Democratic Party to the RINO’s to the useful idiots in the streets will weep and howl unless Trump ends up nominating someone to the left of Fidel Castro. Hey, I’ve got the perfect compromise candidate for him–how about Rod Rosenstein, or better yet, his wife, who has had a really stellar legal career on the Clinton side of things. Either one of them should be someone Michael Moore could support and they are much further up the food chain than he is. I still wonder who’s paying for Michael Moore’s plane ticket to Washington so he can protest whoever Trump nominates– in bulk!

Speaking of Rosenstein, I watched an interesting video of Alan Dershowitz a few days ago in which he said that Rosenstein should be replaced as part of the Mueller Probe because he is not only overseeing the prosecution of the case but he is also a central witness. That conflict of interest disqualifies him. Ethics charges could be filed against Rosenstein with the bars that he is a member of, or a lawsuit could be used to challenge him. Since Mr. Dershowitz has considerable legal expertise, I will take his word for all that.

The Fat Lady Stepped Up To The Counter And Said “WHERE’S THE EVIDENCE?”

Many of you may remember the television commercial from several years ago where this small lady stepped up to the lunch counter and hollered “Where’s the beef?” It was some sort of fast food commercial but it caught peoples’ attention and the short lady in the commercial ended up doing more commercials for different companies along the same lines.

Someone with imagination today could probably do a similar commercial where some old lady steps up in front of a Robert Mueller or Adam Schiff facsimile and shouts “Where’s the evidence?”

It would be an interesting question to be approached in this manner, seeing that after almost two years of all kinds of allegations about Russia hacking the 2016 election for Trump and even more allegations about Trump’s dealings with Putin to make double sure Trump won the election, there seems to be somewhat of a dearth of any real evidence to support these highly questionable claims.

This is confirmed by an article by Ray McGovern on Consortium News for June 7th,  https://consortiumnews.com/2018/06/07/still-waiting-for-evidence-of-a-russian-hack  Mr. McGovern notes: “More than two years after the allegation of Russian hacking of the 2016 presidential election was first made, conclusive proof is still lacking and may never be produced. If you are wondering why so little is heard these days of accusations that Russia hacked into the U.S. election in 2016, it could be because those charges could not withstand close scrutiny…Veteran Intelligence Professionals for Sanity–including two ‘alumni’ who were former National Security Agency technical directors–have long since concluded that Julian Assange did not acquire what he called the ’emails related to Hillary Clinton’ via a ‘hack’ by the Russians or anyone else. They found, rather, that he got them from someone with physical access  to Democratic National Committee computers who copied the material onto an external storage device–probably a thumb drive.” In other words, it was an inside job, not the Russians! Is anyone surprised? Some have wondered if this had anything to do with the Seth Rich “robbery”/murder.

One of the greatest congressional snake oil salesmen who has mercilessly promoted the Trump/Russian collusion fable has been the Democrat’s professional prevaricator, Adam Schiff. To listen to Schiff you would think there were, literally,  mountains of evidence out there conclusively proving that Trump and Putin were in bed with one another and that Putin was really running Washington! However, for some arcane reason, Mr. Schiff “can’t share the evidence” but we are all supposed to believe that he is sitting on it, mountains of it! McGovern noted in his article “…I had a chance to challenge  Schiff personally on the gaping disconnect between the Russians and WikiLeaks. Schiff still ‘can’t share the evidence’ witlh me…or with anyone else, because it does not exist.” Schiff continues to protest that he has all this evidence, but he just can’t share it with anyone–we’ll all just have to take his word that he has it and continue to believe what he and the other Democrats  have been telling us about how ensnared Trump is with the Russians–who are really running the White House, because, after all, haven’t they told us this is what’s going on? And isn’t that good enough? Maybe, if you are a blithering idiot, what the Democrats say is good enough for you, but for anyone with at least half a brain, it shouldn’t be.

Over the decades the Democrats have been famous, from St. Hillary and her significant other, on down,  for falsehood, illusion and delusion–and yet now we are supposed to believe them???  I don’t think Mr. Schiff would know the truth if it jumped out of his office wastebasket and belted him in the chops! And all that is not to say that the Republicans are pure as the driven snow by any means.

All of what has gone on via the continuing efforts of Mueller, Schiff, and company has been a major part of the prolonged effort by the Deep State to destabilize Trump’s presidency because the Deep State really doesn’t want him there–they wanted Hillary–but God intervened and now they are ticked.

It should have occurred to these rocket scientists by now that this really isn’t working out quite the way they planned and what they are really doing is exposing their own efforts to illegally remove Trump from office. The American people, thanks to the alternative media, have begun to see all this and they are tending to get fed  up with it.

There has been lots of talk of late about another “civil war” in America. Should that happen, some of these Deep State denizens may not like some of the results. In the meantime, Mr.Mueller, Mr. Schiff–Where’s the Evidence???

 

Observations About Vicksburg

Recently I attended a meeting where the guest speaker was Samuel W. Mitcham Jr., who has been a history professor at several colleges here in the South. He has written several books about World War 2, and also some about the War of Northern Aggression. Years back he did one about Richard Taylor and the Red River Campaign here in Louisiana that I loved. A couple years ago he did a biography of Nathan Bedford Forrest which I have not gotten around to yet but will add it to my list.

Just this year he has gotten a new book published about the Vicksburg Campaign which I was able to get a copy of and I’m now working my way through it. Eventually, I hope to do a regular book review of it, but right now I just want to pass along some of Mr. Mitcham’s observations while they are fresh in my mind, as well as adding a bit of my own commentary.

I’ve been to the battlefield at Vicksburg twice over the years and don’t recall learning as much on those trips as I have gotten from Mr. Mitcham’s book. I don’t know if it’s just me or what, but the battlefield at Vicksburg always seemed like a dreary place. The fact that it rained both times we were there, sometimes quite hard, might have had something to do with it. We ended up going over the battlefield “between the rain drops” as it were. Then, too, it might be what Vicksburg represents to me, and others I have spoken with–part of the death  knell of the old Confederate States, which, though they never officially surrendered, were not able to win the day either. And the ensuing “reconstruction” period after the War (which continues in various forms until this very day) has been the most shameful period in this country’s history.

Going over the battlefield, even with listening to the narrative tape they let you borrow at the visitor center, doesn’t give you the whole history of what went on there and now, with all the  political correctness (cultural Marxism) going on today, you might get even less of the real history than we did years ago.

Mr. Mitcham noted in his book that, during 1862-63, there were ten separate attempts by the Union to take Vicksburg. He details them all. The battles at Port Hudson, Port Gibson, Grand Gulf, Raymond, Champion Hill, and others were all major parts of the Union campaign to take Vicksburg.. They did it from different areas, in different stages, but it was all part of the Yankee/Marxist plan to reduce Vicksburg and render the Mississippi River unusable to the Confederacy, thus cutting the Confederacy in half and separating the trans-Mississippi area from that part of the Confederacy east of the river.

As I’ve read in other  places, doing this accomplished several things for the Yankee/Marxists. Lots of cotton moved south through Texas, across the Rio Grande into Mexico, where ships the Union blockade couldn’t touch anchored at or near Matamoras. Many of these ships picked up cotton and off-loaded guns, new Enfield  rifles from England, as well as powder and ammunition and other goods needed in the South that couldn’t make it there because of the Union blockade. This material was then freighted  up out of Mexico into Texas and from there shipped east as needed.  But this could not  aid the Confederacy as a whole if this war material could not get across the Mississippi  to the Confederate States east of the river.

Over the years I have read many comments about General John Pemberton who was in overall command in Vicksburg. Many of these comments would lead you to believe that General Pemberton, who was Northern-born, was a weak and ineffective general and that’s why Vicksburg fell. Mr. Mitcham presents Pemberton in a much more positive light, and he goes into the fact that, had General Joe Johnston been more willing to help Pemberton with reinforcements Vicksburg might not have suffered the fate it did. Johnston had reinforcements he could have sent, but he vacillated until it was too late for them to do  any good.

All things considered, with what General Pemberton had to work with, as far as troops, and very diverse personalities in the commanders serving under him, he probably did as well as anyone could have. He wasn’t perfect. None of us are. But he was not the bumbling ineffective personality he has been made out to be. I would not want to be dealt the hand Pemberton was dealt and then be forced to try to make a go of it.

Mitcham’s approach to the Vicksburg Campaign  is anything but politically correct. He notes in several places in the book how the Yankee/Marxists  plundered and destroyed private property and how, in many cases, they just outright stole everything that was not nailed down. And if they couldn’t steal it they destroyed it!

He noted their, in most cases, brutal incivility, toward all Southerners, black as well as white–and when it came to raping Southern women, the Yankee troops were  “equal opportunity” rapists. They didn’t care about color–only sex! He noted in one place where a Southern woman demanded to know of Yankee soldiers if they had come south to free the slaves.They just laughed! They thought that idea was ludicrous!

Mr. Mitcham also observed how Sherman treated Southerners and how he loved to find some reason, any reason, to burn property, private as well as military. I have often contended that Sherman was a pyromaniac, and Mitcham’s book does nothing to change my mind.

He also commented how, in many cases,  some Confederate generals would not cooperate with or help one another when the chips were down, and there were some important battles that were lost because one general couldn’t be bothered sending some of his men as reinforcements to another general to assure a victory. There were little, individual fiefdoms that had to be protected–even if you lost the country doing it. And you could always write a book later on, blaming the general you refused to help (preferably after he was dead) for losing the War because he didn’t have enough men on hand to win a particular battle.

Anyway, this is enough to give you a small taste of what Mr. Mitcham had to say about Vicksburg, along with my own commentary on what he said. Hopefully when I finish the book I can do a regular review, but you can tell from this much that Mr. Mitcham has really written an interesting book–one I recommend.

 

Karl Marx—Deadbeat Daddy

On May 5^th of this year many celebrated the 200^th anniversary of the birth of Karl Marx. You’d think from some of the articles  I read, mostly on the internet, that  Marx was a daring, bold economic visionary who had come up with a new economic system that proved to be a boon to mankind. Of course that’s the line today’s current crop of Marxist professors have been programmed to parrot. Unfortunately they parrot it to a whole batch of college students who, thanks to inadequate economic education at the high school level, really don’t have a clue and if the professor is good enough he can,  as they say, “baffle them with his BS.”

Supposedly, Marx’s economic vision was put forth for the benefit of the  poor working  people. That that idea was a total charade has been proven by the millions of poor working people that have  perished under various Marxist regimes around the  world. Anyone who believes that hogwash truly has to have spiritual and economic blinders on.

Steve Byas, writing on https://www.thenewamerican.com for May 5^th wrote: “While Marx is certainly a central figure in the history of communism, he was by no means the lone originator of communism. And his background demonstrates  that communism did not  spring from the toiling masses of the working class. The reality is that Marx, like almost all socialist revolutionaries, was a product of academia and self-proclaimed intellectual secret societies.” It has been reported that Marx didn’t write The Communist Manifesto on his  own, but rather he wrote it for a group called The League of the Just  (Illuminati) and his name does not even appear on the cover of the first edition.

Donnie Kennedy and I, in our book, Lincoln’s Marxists, noted that Charles A. Dana, managing editor of the New York Tribune hired Marx to write columns for the paper, which was owned and published by utopian socialist Horace Greeley. From 1851 to 1862 Marx contributed about 500 articles to Greeley’s paper—his associate Friedrich Engles probably wrote about a quarter of them. He was more well versed in English than Marx was, and besides, Marx was a bit on the lazy side. It seems, though, that he had no trouble taking pay for the articles Engels wrote.

Leopold Schwarzschild, in his book The Red Prussian published in 1947 by Charles Scribner’s Sons noted of Marx that: “In all this there was nothing to indicate that from now on collections, subscriptions and charity were to be this brilliant young man’s sole means  of support. Nobody could have imagined it, and yet so it was. With the collections and subscriptions of 1844 he embarked on a life which was never again, in all the long decades, to have any other basis.” In other words, for all his supposed economic prowess, Marx and his family mostly lived on charity—and a lot of that came from his friend Engels.

Recently I ran across an article from 2010 on https://hubpages.com entitled Karl Marx Lived in Filth and Neglected His Children. The article observed that: “When an educated man chooses to live in poverty , and raise his children in poverty, that is abuse. When Marx and his wife and children were living in London, a visitor wrote a description of  their lifestyle in their 3-room flat. Not only did the Marx children have to endure the hunger of  poverty, they were raised in filth, or what his friend described as ‘a pig-sty’….Both Marx and his wife came from comfortable homes, hers more prominent. Her father was a Prussian baron. And she, Jenny, was an educated woman when she married Marx. Together they had seven children. Four of those children died young. Only three survived to achieve adulthood. Every biography of Marx reports that his four children who died  young died because of the poverty they had to endure…Marx occasionally wrote articles for newspapers and he wrote his long papers and books full of his philosophies about the ‘struggle’ of workers, but he never worked a day in his life”

He also fathered an illegitimate son, but you don’t hear much about that little indiscretion. The hub pages article observed, in closing, that “By any standard, Marx’ life was a failure, as a husband,  as a father, as a provider.” But, hey, Marx didn’t have time for any of that bourgeois stuff.  He and his fellow socialist revolutionaries/terrorists had  an agenda to push onto the world. They just didn’t have any time available for being good fathers and good providers and good husbands. That was for the plebes, not them. They were above all that!

So all those useful idiots that want to enthuse over Karl Marx should take a step back and realize that, when push came to shove, Marx was little more than just another Deadbeat Dad!
