Nullification Efforts in Louisiana

It seems as if some folks here in Louisiana are beginning to wake up as to the necessity for nullification efforts here in Louisiana.

An article by Zach Parker appeared in the Ouachita Citizen for April 8th. Zach’s article stated: “Local law enforcement officials say they stand behind state Sen. Jay Morris’ legislation clearing citizens to carry a concealed weapon without a permit, though some expressed concern that firearm safety training still take place. Under Senate Bill 118, all persons over the age of 21 who are not convicted felons can carry a concealed weapon without obtaining a concealed carry permit. Morris, a Republican, characterized the purpose of SB 118 as simply confirming each citizen’s constitutional right to bear arms. Last week, the Tennessee Legislature joined 18 other states that have approved permit-less carry, or constitutional carry laws. ‘It’s time Louisiana joined the other 18 states which have passed constitutional carry,’ said Morris of Monroe. ‘This bill really shouldn’t be necessary as our right to bear arms is already established under the Second Amendment and any limitations on that right should be narrow.'”

Let me say at this point that the Ouachita Citizen is the only newspaper in this area that I will read consistently. Zach Parker is one of the few honest journalists I know and his editor seems to have a good grasp of what goes on in the world. Most other papers in this area I can recommend as high quality birdcage liner but that’s about it.

I am sure the federal overlords of federal overreach in Washington would not approve of Senator Morris’ bill. Let’s hope the state legislature here has the guts to support and pass it. However, there are other nullification efforts now going on here in Louisiana.

An article I received just this morning from JBS Action Alerts noted: “House Bill 118 titled the ‘Louisiana Firearm Protection Act is sponsored by Representative Larry Frieman and seven other representatives. If passed, it would be the strongest and most comprehensive gun control nullification bill in the country. HB118 gives a list of policies which might be contained in ‘federal acts, laws, executive orders, administrative orders, court orders, rules, and regulations that violate the U.S. Constitutions Second Amendment and Article 1 Section 11 of the Louisiana Constitution…Importantly, HB 118 nullifies both past and future unconstitutional firearms restrictions. Additionally, while the bill does not name any specific federal laws, the 1934 National Firearms Act and the 1968 Gun Control Act would effectively be included among the laws nullified.” This should be a bill that every sincere person in Louisiana who is not a radical gun control-oriented leftist could support.

Let us hope and pray that some “suits from Washington” do not show up in Baton Rouge with money or promises in an attempt to subvert or weaken this legislation. Such would not surprise me. We need to lean on our legislators here to get them to support these bills. We need to make it clear to them that if they vote to diminish or do away with our Second Amendment rights then they will be gone in the next election.

Thankfully, nullification efforts are under way here in Louisiana. If nullification efforts do not proceed across this country we will end up living is what amounts to a federal dictatorship sponsored by the Deep State and the creatures that thrive in the Washington Swamp.

Taking a Stand

April is Confederate History Month and we need to proclaim that without hesitation or apology. When leftist thugs howl about the South seceding so she could keep all her slaves we need to start asking them about those slave states that remained part of the Union all the way up until the 13th Amendment was enacted, months after “honest” Abe was dead and gone. Having never learned any real history most of them won’t know anything about that. You will need to remind them–not that it will shut them up–but it might slow them down a bit if someone has an accurate answer to their tomfoolishness.

Ray H. Shores had an informative article in the recent issue of The Southern Defender. He raised some good points both from a Christian and Southern perspective. He talked about duty calling us and wondered if we would answer. He wrote: “Now more than ever before, duty calls us to take a public stand for Liberty, which is more than just freedom. It’s freedom tied to Biblical principles, where the Founders of the United States and Confederate States took a public stand.”

And he continued: “It’s easy to say that we’ll fight when the going really gets rough–when the goons come for the guns, perhaps. But, what if the goons don’t come for the guns? What if they just make it a crime to use them without a permit–a permit that is rarely approved. We would be wise to remember that the Apostle Peter told Jesus he would stand up to the goons when the going got rough. Later, he cried tears of regret because he failed. Anybody can brag about things he or she will do tomorrow, but brave men and women are taking a stand now.” I have often heard people brag that “They will only get my gun when they pry it from my cold, dead hands.” And I have often wondered how many of those that loudly make this brag will be the first to line up and turn their guns in if push ever comes to shove. Bragging and doing ain’t necessarily the same animal.

At any rate,. Ray gave us a list of things most of us can work at doing right now that may help to forestall the enemies of Christian liberty we are all faced with today. I won’t list them all here but I will give you some of them–the ones that jumped out at me as I read them.

  1. Pray for courage and protection during these times when we confront determined anti-liberty, pro-Communist foes.
  2. In your front yard, on the tallest flagpoles you can afford, raise one or two flags of liberty…This action will embolden your children, your neighbors, and even yourself. Flags are a rallying point, and the sight of them builds courage and reminds the troops of the reason they are fighting…
  3. Only support politicians that are active open champions of the ‘Original Intent’ of the U.S. Constitution and States Rights. Stop supporting weaklings, appeasers and con-men.
  4. Study your Bible and work to repent of real sins instead of sins invented by heretics and Communists, such as the ‘sins” of owning too much property, having too much money, and associating with people of your own choosing. Claim the gender that God gave you at birth. Don’t support the ‘Woke Church’ and churches that adhere to the Communist-created ‘Critical Race Theory’.
  5. Work to purify your mind through learning, and avoid corrupting influences, such as perverted and Communist-inspired television programs…
  6. Work to purify the hearts and minds of your children. Try to avoid putting them into the clutches of Marxist-minded teachers or into schools led by conformists and people who fear the news media more than they love truth and liberty.
  7. Patronize pro-Liberty businesses and websites. Use web browsers, social media and e-mail hosts that are not joined at the hip with the Federal government. Some of the Liberty flags Ray mentioned earlier are The Betsy Ross flag, The Bonnie Blue flag, The Confederate Battle flag, the Confederate First National flag, the Gadsden flag. I did articles about three of these flags awhile back on my https://thecopperhead.blogspot.com site–a site that has been seriously shadow-banned because I refuse to be politically correct. Hopefully this brief article will encourage some of you to take note of and celebrate Confederate History Month.

Nullification is Spreading

by Al Benson Jr.

Recently I did an article on nullification in Arkansas. As things in this country continue to deteriorate under the Harris/Biden Regime more states are beginning to deal with the process of nullification as noted in the Constitution.

Ron Kennedy, in his informative book Be Ye Separate–Bible Belt Revival Or Marxist Revolution has noted, on pages 62-63 that: “The founding fathers crafted a federal system for a Constitutionally limited Republic of Sovereign States. They understood that no word, sentence, clause, or amendment in the Constitution was self-enforcing. They understood that a free government required moral people. They also understood that, under their system of federalism, the Sovereign States would be able to enforce the Constitutional limitations on the federal government.” This is what nullification was all about–preventing the federal government from going beyond the bounds of what the Constitution allowed. This is something the Feds dearly love to do–make up laws as they go along that will allow them to implement their neo-Marxist agendas. Nullification properly combats this and more states seem to finally be waking up to this.

In Texas, four state legislators have introduced HB1215 (the Texas State Sovereignty Act). If passed this will create in Texas the situation that will enable that state to “review federal actions that challenge the sovereignty of the state and the people for the purpose of determining if the federal action is unconstitutional.” Should any federal act fall into that category the legislators in Texas will then seek nullification from the state’s governor and a majority in both houses of the state government.

The legislature in South Dakota is also considering a bill similar to the one in Texas. And, in Wyoming there is a “Second Amendment Preservation Act” that should nullify federal gun control edicts. Similar nullification bills to protect the Second Amendment have been proposed in Alabama, Missouri, Ohio, and West Virginia. Regarding the Second Amendment, nullification measures have already been enacted in Alaska, Idaho, and Kansas.

And it has been reported that similar proposals are being debated and discussed in the legislatures of Arizona, Arkansas, Mississippi, Montana, Nebraska, Oklahoma, South Carolina and Tennessee. It seems as if many states in the South and West are beginning to grasp the importance of nullification in their honest desire to combat federal overreach. I wonder, at this point, where is Louisiana with its Democratic governor who seems more than willing to go along with any Democratic federal overreach proposed by the current Regime? The state legislature here in Louisiana needs to start looking at the nullification process for this state. So far they have avoided this issue which they should begin to address.

If continued federal overreach is allowed we will, in effect, become just another Marxist dictatorship. That would greatly please the Deep State in Washington but it will be the death knell for our God-given liberties everywhere else. People should start contacting their state legislators and letting them know they want them to start implementing the nullification process in their states.

Nullification in Arkansas

Just read an article on The Epoch Times web site about the state senate in Arkansas passing a bill banning the enforcement of federal gun control laws.

The article noted that: “The state senate voted this week to block federal law enforcement officials enforcing certain gun laws and regulations, sending the bill to the state House in the midst of congressional gun-control proposals. the Senate voted 28- 7 to approve the measure, which will then be sent to the House. Arkansas’ Legislature is overwhelmingly Republican…the measure will prohibit any law enforcement agencies in Arkansas from cooperating with federal officials to enforce federal gun laws that go in conflict with the rights provided in the Arkansas Constitution, according to Arkansas Online. Some state lawmakers expressed a worry that President Joe Biden would ramp up gun-control measures.”

It’s no secret that Biden and his Marxist vice-president plan to gut the Second Amendment immediately if not sooner, whichever they can get away with. And you can take it to the bank that if the Second Amendment goes by the boards then the other nine original amendments in the Bill of Rights won’t be far behind it. That’s the federal Deep State plan. Trump protected the Second Amendment. Harris/Biden plan to do away with it. Oh, they will claim otherwise, but anyone with a brain knows where they are headed. Once they gut the Second Amendment and have the guns who is to prevent them from doing whatever they darn well please?

What the state of Arkansas is doing with this bill in nullifying unconstitutional federal actions. This is something more and more states need to start doing. Nullification in this country is something that has a long history.

Ron Kennedy, in his new informative little book Be Ye Separate–Bible Belt Revival or Marxist Revolution comments on nullification. On page 29 he observes: “We the people must again reclaim the right to control our state and local communities. We can use that control to nullify anti-Christian acts of the federal government and its bureaucratic Deep State–just like the people of Wisconsin who boldly nullified the Constitutional requirements to return runaway slaves in 1859 As will be explained, America’s founding fathers protected this ability (state nullification etc.) when they crafted the original Constitution…The idea of states having power to nullify laws in the United States goes back to colonial days.” More on Ron’s new book (Xulon Press http://www.xulonpress.com) in future articles.

There is more about state nullification in Ron Kennedy’s book Dixie Rising–Rules for Rebels (Shotwell Publishing, P O Box 2592, Columbia, South Carolina 29202) Ron tells us, on page 48, that “The bottom line is simple: Without real states’ rights, inclusive of the rights of state nullification and secession, we the people are helpless when facing an all-powerful tyrannical Federal Empire. But by passing our proposed constitutional amendment acknowledging the rights of nullification and secession, we the people at the local level will have the power to control ‘our’ federal government.” You need to read Dixie Rising.

State nullification is an idea whose time has come–or rather has come back. Other states are working at passing nullification laws in certain areas, notably Texas and a couple other Western states.

Yankees & Marxists–Birds of a Feather

by Al Benson Jr.

Member, Board of Directors, Confederate Society of America

Years ago Dr. Clyde Wilson wrote a series of excellent articles which he titled The Yankee Problem in America. I don’t remember if he ever made this into a book or not, but if he didn’t it would be a good book. You may still be able to locate copies of some of the articles on the internet–if they haven’t been removed under the guise of being politically incorrect, which they thankfully are.

Let me say at the outset, when I refer to Yankees I am not and I repeat, not, talking about everyone born and raised in the North. There are lots of good folks in the North who would not ever qualify as Yankees, nor would most of them want to.

Yankee is not your geographical location on the map. Yankee is a mindset. Let that thought sink in a bit. Some of the most stalwart Southern patriots I have known were born and raised in the North. Those that are still there are good Copperheads. But you have Yankees in the South too. They speak with Southern accents and they eat fried chicken and okra. We refer to them as scalawags because they have sold out their heritage in order to gain some advantage from the Yankee types who control most of the federal government.

I can recall once trying to explain who was a Yankee to a lady from Illinois. When I got through, she said “You are talking about a control freak.” She was right. That’s what a Yankee is. He, or she, wants to totally control what you think, how you live, what you are allowed to believe, what you are supposed to not believe, what you can or can’t do with your own property, etc. You get the message, I hope. If not you just ain’t been paying attention.

During this Chinese-induced pandemic we have suffered through we had one governor in a Northern state that issued “mandates” (which really have no force as laws) that prevented people from going out and planting gardens in their own backyards. Not planting a garden in the backyard was, somehow, supposed to help combat the pandemic. It was never explained quite how that worked, but then the governor never had to. She did it because she felt she could, and for no other reason. I think the Supreme Court in her state eventually said her mandates were too draconian and overturned most of them. But that took awhile and lots of citizens in her state marched and protested before it happened. Had they not it probably never would have happened. The old saying “People deserve what they permit” is probably all too true.

So now you have some idea of how Yankees want to totally run your life. What about the Marxists? What do they really want, in spite of the “news” media telling us how really wonderful they are?

Well, the Marxists, (and there are lots of them in Washington and in your state capitols) have their version of what is best for you (and ultimately for them). They want to totally control what you do. They want to control what you are allowed to see and not see, what you are allowed to believe and what you should not believe, what you can and can’t do with your own property and so on. In other words they want to totally control your entire life. So the question arises–what is the difference between the Yankee and the Marxist? If you look at what they both want there really is not much difference. In fact some Yankees have ended up becoming Marxists because the transition from one to the other causes them no pain or inconvenience at all. Both want government control of your entire existence. They are, in a sense, interchangeable with one another. They want to decide how your children should be educated–what they should learn and what they are not allowed to learn. Public “education” in this country (something advocated by Karl Marx) gives them much of that ability. Private Christian schools are anathema to both the Marxist and the Yankee. They don’t think they should be allowed to exist and if they do then they need to be strongly regulated so all the kids who attend them won’t grow up to be “white supremacists” or Christian patriots. Such must be avoided at all costs if the Yankee/Marxists are to be able to retain their power to run our lives.

The Yankee/Marxist recognizes the Christian faith as his main adversary. Unfortunately, most Christians in our day fail to recognize the Yankee/Marxist as one of their main adversaries because their faith has been neutralized to the point where discernment has been replaced with “feel good” theology. Who do you suppose is responsible for that? When churches post Black Lives Matter banners outside their churches then you have to realize that the faith in that church has been severely compromised. It has become, in effect, an outpost for Marxist revolution. Christians should avoid such churches like the plague because they are a plague on the Christian faith.

Our ability to recognize our adversaries has been watered down. We had better wake up and start to reverse that trend while we still have some ability to do that, lest the day come upon us when that ability is gone.

“Cultural Genocide 1861-2020”

by Al Benson Jr.

Member, Board of Directors, Confederate Society of America

The Kennedy Brothers, in the third edition of The South Was Right! Shotwell Publishing, Columbia, South Carolina dealt with the ongoing problem of cultural genocide in chapter 17.

They observe, in the opening comments of this chapter that: “While updating the third edition of this book we found this chapter to be saddest chapter in the entire book. It is sad because had Southern Heritage organizations and leadership took our advice back in 1994 when we issued the second edition, we would not be witnessing the massive slandering and destruction of our Southern society we see all around us today (2020). In 1994 we pointed out that it will require bold political action to halt the Yankee Empire’s genocidal attack on the South. Our call for bold action was met with slanderous accusations of treason to the good ole U.S.A. and charges that the Kennedy Twins were radical and extremist–such slanderous accusations did not come from anti-South neo-Marxists but from leaders in Southern heritage organizations. One national leader told us, ‘We have more important things to do,’ while another told us we were ‘too confrontational.’ Pacified Southerners preferred to ignore the approaching neo-Marxist apocalypse while quietly meeting, eating, and retreating. Their timid, pathetic, non-defense of the South consisted of nothing more than pinning ‘I attended the convention’ medals on their chest or diligently researching their genealogy to justify the wearing of one more ancestor medal on their heritage ribbon. Such Southerners have no room to mock Nero for fiddling while Rome burned!”

I have run into people like that and I am willing to bet some of you have also. These are the folks who seek to live on the laurels of their ancestors without really trying to defend the cause for which their ancestors fought. Most of them probably attended public schools where they were taught really faulty “history” about their ancestors and the righteous cause for which they fought (and it wasn’t slavery) and whether they realize it or not, they have absorbed much of that fake history.

It is lots easier to subdue a people that has been taught bad history about their foundations. We see this happening today in government schools all across the land where Marxist programs like Critical Race Theory and similar programs like the 1619 Project are being used in colleges and K-12 government schools to give our young folks a terribly false and disjointed view of our history while at the same time portraying communism as something to be grasped for and sought after.

And what is our response? Mostly ambivalence. Even here in the South it is so much easier to just “go with the flow” and not bother to stand up and speak out for your history and your heritage. After all, they might call you a “racist” and that’s the last thing most folks want. Easier to just “sit down and shut up” and most folks in our day, even Southerners, have been taught to avoid any controversy that might draw the wrong attention to themselves.

Problem is, as the Kennedy Brothers tell us, this has been going on since at least 1861 and it shows no signs whatever of abating in our day. The Kennedys observe, accurately, that “The Southern political scalawags and their fellow travelers are the keys to maintaining Northern liberal political domination of our Southern homeland.” They liken those people to the French traitors who helped the Nazis in World War 2. The Kennedys tell us “Southern scalawags have led the fight to destroy our precious Southern heritage. The reason? Because they owe their allegiance, not to the people of the South, not to the principles of Constitutional liberty, but to the establishment, the power brokers who control the supreme federal government.”

The Kennedys noted, on page 399, that “Our Southern society has a heritage rich in cultural diversity. The study of the various cultures that comprise this heritage is certainly relevant and laudable. The problem is that the liberal education establishment has assumed unto itself the right to decide which cultures are relevant and which ones must be ignored. It has assumed unto itself the right to teach cultural diversity in a manner that will best support its left-of-center liberal bias. By ignoring and or falsifying our Southern heritage the liberal establishment is engaging in a deliberate campaign of cultural genocide.”

There is much more in chapter 17 than I can ever go into here. You really need to read this third edition of The South Was Right! and look at where we are in our day through the lens of what the Kennedys tell us. I know both of these men. They have done the homework–and where Southerners have failed to live up to their birthright, they don’t hesitate to tell us.

One thing we need to do that would be a step in the right direction is to start checking out educational alternatives to our present government education system. In spite of the occasional good teacher, that system will never give us the truth about our history and heritage and if we don’t learn that truth we will be forever reinventing the wheel in every generation and wondering why the wheel is square!

Lincoln & the Forty-Eighters

by Al Benson Jr.

Member, Board of Directors, Confederate Society of America

Yesterday, March 2nd, I did an interview with Cliff Kincaid for one of his you tube presentations. It was mostly on Donnie Kennedy’s and my book Lincoln’s Marxists. Hopefully I was able to give Cliff my take on the communist influence in this country in the years both before and after 1848. I don’t do a lot of these interviews so I am always concerned that I do not do well enough on them. Cliff had read our book and so was mostly in agreement with the history of socialism in this country that we presented.

However, in doing some preliminary research for this interview, I read an article by a man who claimed that Marx’s influence on Lincoln was pretty minimal and he took to task a writer who dared to disagree with that. He claimed that Lincoln just reading Karl Marx’s articles in utopian socialist Horace Greeley’s New York Tribune would not have been enough to reinforce Lincoln’s views on socialism. While I don’t totally agree with that, I got the impression he was trying to soft-pedal Lincoln’s socialist worldview–something Lincoln-lovers dearly want to hide.

In doing more research on this I came across an article by a John Nichols published in the International Socialist Review https://isreview.org that was quite informative. The socialists do not hesitate to identify with Lincoln as he was, in a sense, one of them. Mr. Nichols noted, in part, that Greeley’s Tribune was one of the papers delivered to Lincoln’s law office in Springfield and that Lincoln was “Keenly aware of the rising tide of liberal, radical, and socialist reform movements in Europe, a tide that would peak–at least for a time–in the ‘revolutionary wave’ of 1848 and its aftermath, the young congressman joined other American Whigs in following the development of that year’s ‘Springtime of the Peoples’ which saw uprisings against monarchy and entrenched economic, social and political power in Germany, France, Hungary, Denmark and other European nations. For Lincoln, however, this was not a new interest.” That was an interesting comment there at the end. It indicated that Lincoln was familiar with the socialist upheaval going on in Europe.

Nichols continued: “Long before 1848, German radicals had begun to arrive in Illinois, where they quickly entered into the legal and political circles in which Lincoln traveled. One of them, Gustav Korner, was a student revolutionary at the University of Munich, who had been imprisoned by German authorities in the early 1830s for organizing illegal demonstrations.” Korner ended up in Illinois where “Within a decade he would pass the Illinois bar, win election to the legislature and be appointed to the state Supreme Court. Korner and Lincoln formed an alliance that would become so close that the student revolutionary from Frankfurt would eventually be one of seven personal delegates-at-large named by Lincoln to serve at the critical Republican State Convention in May 1860, which propelled the Springfield lawyer into that year’s presidential race. Through Korner, Lincoln met and befriended many of the German radicals who, after the failure of the 1848 revolution, fled to Illinois and neighboring Wisconsin. Along with Korner on Lincoln’s list of personal delegates-at-large to the 1860 convention was Friedrich Karl Franz Hecker…” He gets prominent mention in Lincoln’s Marxists.

And Nichols also noted: “The failure of the 1848 revolts, and the brutal crackdowns that followed, ;led many leading European radicals to take refuge in the United States, and Lincoln’s circle of supporters would eventually include some of Karl Max’s closest associates and intellectual sparring partners, including Joseph Weydemeyer and August Willich…Lincoln did not merely invite the 48ers to join his campaigns, he became highly engaged with their causes.”

So what do Nichols’ comments here tell you about where Lincoln was really at? It would appear that the 48er influence on Mr. Lincoln, due to his socialist proclivities, was much stronger than most writers would have us believe. When theologian James Henley Thornwell referred to “Red Republicans” back in the 1850s it would seem he knew what he was talking about. Wonder how much he knew about “Honest Abe.”

We May Lose Because We Don’t Care About Our History

by Al Benson Jr.

Member, Board of Directors, Confederate Society of America

Over the past week or so I have posted a couple articles about terrorist John Brown and some of his leftist connections (yes, he had some leftist connections).

Some of the comments I got back from various places my articles were posted were, how shall I say it, downright abusive. Everything from “who cares about all this crap?” to comments that used profanity that I won’t go into.

Some of this made me reflect a little and I came up with the possibility that, at least in our day, we may well lose the struggle for our freedom because many on our side of the political and theological fence not only do not comprehend or grasp the importance of our history, they just don’t care. They are not interested.

What they don’t seem to realize is that if we don’t have a firm grasp on what has happened throughout our history they will never be able to fully understand what is going on now and if they don’t understand it they will be ignorant of how to deal with it. Yet many, if not most, seem to be at that point. They don’t seem to understand that what has gone before affects what is happening right now and if you try to explain that to them they get mad at you.

Over the past few years I have seen writers of fiction that grasp the importance of history more than the average American. Of course the way history is taught in most public schools does not help this situation. I’ve had people tell me “history is boring.” If you understand it, it really isn’t boring. But it is taught in such a way as to turn people off because if they truly understood our history then they might have problems with where we find ourselves today. The powers that be would just as soon avoid that problem. So history is taught in such a way as to make people lose interest in it and fail to see how important it really is.

People in their “history” classes in school are taught that the War of Northern Aggression was fought only over slavery and nothing else. If you dare to bring up the issue of tariffs as a major cause of that war then you are probably going to be called a racist because the establishment version of that history has no place for the tariff issue–and so you never hear about it. You have to do your own research to find that out and if you try to explain that to people, they mostly don’t care.

Even here in the South, our kids in public schools, and some private ones as well, are taught that their ancestors fought to keep their slaves–even though only about six percent of Southern folks owned any slaves. We are supposed to believe that the other 94% fought so the 6% could keep their slaves. Is this stupid or what? Yet most of us are too lazy to find out the real truth. It’s lots easier to just get mad at those trying to inform you than it is to check out what they are telling you.

The rationale today is to “shoot the messenger and ignore what he tells you.” Eventually there will be no more messengers–and you will lose your liberty because you were too lazy to listen when you had the chance. And when that happens I suppose it will all be Trump’s fault!

John Brown & Hugh Forbes–Conspiracy & Treason

by Al Benson Jr.

Member, Board of Directors, Confederate Society of America

In my most recent article I dealt with terrorist John Brown and his dealings with a man named Hugh Forbes, who, as I now have found out, was a Forty-eighter revolutionary–and probably much more.

Forbes gets some mention in some of the books about John Brown. J. C. Furnas, in his book The Road To Harpers Ferry took note of Hugh Forbes. He commented: “To drill them (Brown’s “army) Old Brown had enlisted another odd fish,’Colonel’ Hugh Forbes, a British soldier of fortune who had quit the silk trade in Italy to turn guerilla with Garabaldi.” There were Forbes’ Forty-eiglhter bonafides right there.

Otto Scott in his book on John Brown, The Secret Six: The Fool As Martyr told us a bit more about “colonel” Forbes. He revealed that: “One man to whom such words sounded familiar and reallistic was Colonel Hugh Forbes, a former officer under Garabaldi in the Revolution of 1848. English-born, fluent in both French and Italian, Forbes was editor of a small Italian language newspaper in New York.He was also a fencing master and a translator at the New York Tribune–a paper that harbored many revolutionaries including Karl Marx–among its European correspondents. Interestingly enough Colonel Forbes had been brought to (Thomas Wentworth) Higginson’s attention by Senator Sumner, who had a wide acquaintance among European revolutionaries.” Forbes had written a two-volume book on military warfare published in Italy and he recommended his books as a manual for volunteer soldiers. He talked to John Brown about this and Brown agreed to pay him a hundred dollars a month to “summarize the lessons of Italy in English for Brown’s own projected volunteer ‘army’ …”

Writer Steve Byas did an excellent article in the New American Magazine back in February of 2017, Volume 33 No. 3 entitled John Brown’s Lethal Legacy. Mr. Byas noted how those that made up the Secret Six group that supported and financed John Brown were in favor of a violent revolution. He observed: “If Brown was going to lead a bloody revolution he would need a person with more military experience to help train his ‘army.’ The steady contributions of the Secret Six enabled Brown to hire Colonel Hugh Forbes for the job. Forbes had been an officer under Italian radical Giuseppi Garibaldi, a soldier in the Revolution of 1848. Born in England and fluent in Italian and French, and worked as a translator fror the New York Tribune. Among the European correspondents for the Tribune was Karl Marx, the author of the Communist Manifesto. The newspaper regularly provided space for the opinions of European revolutionaries. Forbes had been introduced to the Secret Six by Senator Sumner–a man who later became an actual communist and who was on a friendly basis with many of the revolutionaries in Europe. It is well establislhed from the history of communist revolutions elsewhere that Marxist revolutionaries seize upon issues such as slavery for their own purposes. If there is a ‘class struggle’ they exploit it, and if there isn’t such a conflict, they work to create one.”

Forbes had some problems with Brown’s plan for Harpers Ferry, but other abolitionists did also, Frederick Douglas among them. Forbes didn’t think Brown had enough men for such an effort. Steve Byas told us: “The disgruntled Forbes threatened the Secret Six with exposure of their role in Brown’s treasonous plans and this evidently caused a delay of the plan’s execution for several months from 1858 to 1859…Higginson was supportive of Brown, saying, ‘I am always willing to invest in treason.’ Sanborn’s sentiments were similar: ‘Treason will not be treason much longer, but patriotism’.”

So this is what you are dealing with–treasonous behavior trying to pretend it is somehow virtuous and patriotic. Sort of reminds you of what is going on now with the Harris/Biden regime.

This all fits in quite well with what Aurthur R. Thompson has told us in this revealing work To The Victor Go The Myths & Monuments. Of Forbes Mr. Thompson told us that: “Considering that all involved knew that Forbes was working for Mazzini, it is obvious that important Americans welcomed the involvement of a key Carbonari in their operations. It was not simply a plot by Brown; it involved many prominent people who had no problem involving the Carbonari–if they too were not already part of the Carbonari conspiracy, or lhigher up the ladder themselves. Here we see that conspiratorial forces worked both sides of the conflict; within the Brown initiative and the KGC. Supposedly, the two were in opposition, but in reality theiy were guided by one force linking back to the Carbonari network. Mr. Thompson also noted that Brown, in Kansas, “had veteran Forty-eighters Charles Kaiser, August Bondi, and Charles W. Lenhardt who rode with him in Kansas, and the Chartist Richard J. Hinton.”

So between Forbes and those Forty-eighters that helped him in Kansas, Brown was well supplied with leftist revolutionary assistance. Sort of makes you wonder what John Brown was really all about doesn’t it? Maybe down the road apiece we need to look at the backgrounds of some of those that supported Brown a llittle bit more.

John Brown–Conspirator

Over the years I have run into many who seem to venerate John Brown of Harpers Ferry “fame” as though he were some sort of savior for mankiind. Actually the opposite is probably closer to the truth. I have, recently, in an article on John Brown, referred to historian Otto Scott’s thoughtful work on Brown The Secret Six–The Fool As Martyr. It goes into Brown and those radicals that supported and financed his activities.

Another book I have often referred to and recommended is one by Arthur R. Thompson To The Victors Go The Myths And Monuments. Mr. Thompson has also done yeoman duty in exposing conspiracy in this country and those who are part of that conspiracy to take this country down, indeed to take all of Western Christian civilization down–for that is their ultimate goal.

John Brown was involved in that conspiracy, which still exists in our day. On page 291 of his book, Mr. Thompson tells us about John Brown’s involvement. He says: “The entire life of John Brown was involvement in conspiracy, including the conspiracy that had worked for years to destroy the social order of the country and replace it with Illuminist ideas. he named as one of the trustees of his will William Russell, the founder of the Order.” The Order he is talking about here is the Order of Skull & Bones, which some of you all must have heard of. Historian and Professor Antony Sutton wrote a book about the Order of Skull & Bones back in the 1980s called America’s Secret Establishment. It was a controversial book and Sutton had a hard time getting it published. I think he eventually self-published it.

Mr. Thompson observed that: “Since the growth of the Internet, the widespread reputation of Skull and Bones, the Order, has proliferated, with more and more people paying attention to such things, and some modern histories of Brown have dropped any references to Brown’s connections with William Russell. Apparently to refer to Russell in connection with Brown would raise some eyebrows…Brown was the first political terrorist of his kind. Before, terrorism was a part of government, either against their own people as a means of ruling them, or aainst another citizenry whom they wished to influence into some form of reaction, or tribe against tribe….In the case of Brown, he was backed by those who wanted a change in government for their own purposes. He was their instrument to wage terrorist activity to react the people into accepting war and the changes wrought by that war. And his arms were supplied by these men. Brown had conspirators in government at the state and federal level who helped him, even though his enterprise was not sanctiioned by the government. Indeed,if the federal government had done the job it was supposed to do, the army would have arrested Brown and the others in the Kansas Territory who were causing the mayhem on both sides.”

Thompson contined: “Brown hired Hugh Forbes, an Englishman who had fought under Garibaldi,to train his soldiers in 1857.In most volumes about Brown, little is mentioned about Forbes except tlhe foregoing. When looking into his background, it becomes very interesting that he linked up with Brown and subsequent events. The story of Forbes is that he was an emissary and operative of Mazzini in the United States. He was asked to come to America in that capacity and work with the emigres who had removed to the New World. Literally thousands of members of the European Carbonari front groups had moved to America after 1848. They needed to be pulled together into a cohesive organization to work for the goals of the Carbonari. Forbes was one of the main men tasked to do the job by Mazzini, if not the leader of the effort,to at least pull together the lower political levels of Carbonari influence. Forbes was pressed on Brown by his backers in the East.” So it was all not just a plot by Brown. He was part of something much bigger–one cog in the wheel of conspiracy to take this country down. And as for these European Carbonari that came over here after 1848–how many of them were the Forty-eighters Donnie Kenedy and I wrote about in Lincoln’s Marxists? I wouldn’t mind having a dollar for every one that was.

So John Brown was an integral part of the conspiracy that was working to destabilize the United States, using terrorism as part of their agenda. And if Brown was part of all that, what about the people that financed and promoted him? Were they all part of that also? Or as the man says “Will the sun rise in the East tomorrow?”

More on John Brown in the near future.
