Marxist Propaganda In Public Schools Posing As Education

by Al Benson Jr.

I have written about Critical Race Theory before, and I probably will again. It is such a pernicious world view that it deserves all the negative publicity possible. At this point, several state legislatures around the country have bills in their legislatures to ban the teaching of this theory in their public schools and, while I have no use for the public school system, I do applaud these efforts. At least some in these state legislatures recognize what a horrendous insult to real education this leftist drivel really is.

However, for some reason, that does not hold true in the state of Washington. According to https://thefederallist.com/2021/06/03/washington-mandates-critical-race-theory this leftist plague will be visited on all public school students in that state. According to this article: “The race-obsessed framework isn’t relegated to schools in Seattle, where you’d expect a victim-centered ideology like critical race theory to flourish. Thanks to the state’s Democrat-controlled legislature, a trio of bills just signed into law mandates critical race theory training for all public school teachers. Another even requires training for medical students, teaching them it’s as essential to be social justice activists as it is to treat patients.. While critical race theory mandates go into effect in the 2022-2023 school year, many districts are already jumping on board.” Two mentioned are the Issaquah School District and the one in Bellingham.

The article also observes that “Staffers learn that black people cannot be racist because they don’t have power, that whites benefit from white privilege even if they experience ‘high poverty’ and that virtually every American institution is founded in white supremacy.” Can you imagine teachers being forced to communicate this lunacy to their students? This is not education. This is Marxist indoctrination, pure and simple. It occurs to me that those who promote this sort of thing are the real racists and not those they are trying to teach this stuff to.

You have racial prejudice among all ethnic groups, not just white folks, and to try to tell students that they are “racist” just because they are white is doing them a real disservice. By the same token, telling black students they lack the ability to have racial prejudice is lying to them. And those that promote this twaddle know that.

I mentioned in a previous article, an article by Christopher Rufo on Imprimis for March, 2021, Volume 50, No. 3 where Mr. Rufo deals with Critical Race Theory. He states: “Critical race theory is an academic discipline, formulated in the 1990s, built on the intellectual framework of identity-based Marxism. Relegated for many years to universities and obscure academic journals, over the past decade it has increasingly become the default ideology in our public institutions. It has been injected into government agencies, public school systems, teacher training programs, and corporate human resources departments in the form of diversity training programs, human resources modules, public policy frameworks, and school curricula.” If you can locate Mr. Rufo’s article on the internet https://imprimis.hillsdale.edu/wp-content/uploads/2021/04/imprimis_Mar_3-21

From what he has said, it doesn’t look like the leftists have missed out in many areas–education, business, you name it. While we have been busy and bemused watching ball games and reality shows the radical leftists among us have been busy with their efforts to subvert our institutions–and mostly we don’t begin to have the remotest clue. Where has the Christian Church been while all this was going on? Don’t hold your breath waiting for the answer to that one! I’m not sure you want to know!

For the poor folks in Washington who will be subjected to all of this I have some advice. Get your kids OUT of the public school system immediately if not sooner! Unless you want your kids to be trained to be good little Marxists, you don’t need this! And people in other states need to keep an eye on this situation, lest your legislators betray you and cave in to this sort of thing.

The leftists seem to come up with lots of noble-sounding euphemisms–tolerance, brotherhood, inclusiveness, and others, but when you look at the real guts of what they are peddling it is usually just a sugar-coated Marxism, with just enough sugar to fool the naive.

Critical Race Theory is bad news–Marxist bad news. Those who want to protect their children from this pile of leftist cow chips need to be aware of that fact. And once you become aware, then inform others.

Critical Race Theory and The Local Public School

by Al Benson Jr.

In March of 2021 writer Christopher F. Rufo did an article for Hillsdale Colleges’ publication Imprimis in which he dealt with Critical Race Theory and its origins. I can’t deal with it all here. It is long and informative and you may be able to find it on the internet–if it hasn’t been censored off by now. For my purposes here I will give you a brief quote. Mr. Rufo noted that: “Critical race theory is an academic discipline, formulated in the 1990s, built on the intellectual framework of identity-based Marxism. Relegated for many years to universities and obscure academic journals, over the past decade it has increasingly become the default ideology in our public institutions.” One of those public institutions is the public school system and Critical Race Theory is, regardless of what some try to tell us, alive and unfortunately well in our public school systems in America.

I read an article for May 24th on https://www.thegatewaypundit.com which observed: “In Cherokee County, Georgia there was a grassroots victory at the school board level as concerned parents convinced their elected school board members, on the spot, to prohibit the implementation of Critical Race Theory and the 1619 Project based on their concerns. .According to (a) reader, interest in the topic of CRT and the 1619 project was intense and concerned citizens overfilled the building where the school board meeting was held and many had to be out in the parking lot:..The school board voted 4-1, with two abstentions to approve a resolution to prohibit implementation of critical race theory and the 1619 Project..from being taught in Cherokee schools. Groups of concerned parents , teachers, students, and other concerned citizens around the country are organizing similar resistance to the Marxist teaching style and learning aids called CRT, with lobbying efforts at their school board and local government levels, seeking similar resolutions to have it banned from public schools.”

Now, let me ask a question here–have any of you older folks ever seen a situation similar to this? To some of us who have lived in West Virginia, this is a carbon copy of the beginning of the Kanawha County Textbook Protest that took place in that county in West Virginia during the mid-to-late 1970s. The Kanawha County school board, with the exception of the one honest lady on it, Alice Moore, tried to foist off a set of really raunchy textbooks on the students in that county. The parents in Kanawha County protested, picketed the schools, marched, and contacted their political leadership at the state and local levels–and no one could, or would, help them. And there was no help forthcoming at the federal level because it is the federal level that is responsible for what your kids are spoon-fed at the local level. Anyone trying to tell you different is either naive or a liar. Everything in public schools is filtered through the grid of the federal Department of Education, except maybe the times the kids are allowed to have recess. Local control of public education is a vaunted myth that should have died out after the feds put down the textbook revolt in West Virginia , using whatever methods they needed to.

So I will say this to the good folks in Cherokee County, Georgia. You have put off the implementation of Critical Race Theory in your public schools–for now! However, if you don’t keep your eye on your local school board, and think you have won this fight for good and all, then somewhere down the road, this “educational” Marxist construct will resurface once the parents quit watching out for it. It may come back with a different name to throw parents off track but it will be back–just as sure as the turning of the earth!

In order to prevent your kids from again facing the probability of being subjected to this Marxist drivel posing as education you would be better advised to remove your kids, if at all possible, from the public school system and either find a good Christian school or teach them at home. For those willing to make the sacrifice this can be done. It means learning to accept the responsibility for your own kids’ education rather than leaving the job up to local school educrats who may or may not have your kids’ best interest at heart. This is not a blanket indictment of all who teach or have taught in public school. We have a niece who teaches in one. Rather it is a warming to be alert because there are many in the educational bureaucracy at all levels who view your kids as cannon fodder to the leftist propaganda they intend to shove down their throats as part of the destruction of your culture and history.

Christian parents especially need to hear this, but I fear not many of them will listen. A lot I know never did and they were anxious to even avoid this discussion. Being forewarned, however, is to work toward being forearmed. To all but leftist parents–understand this-the public school system ain’t your friend–it is the culture destroyer of your heritage.

Critical Race Theory and “Woke” Evangelicals

by Al Benson Jr.

I can recall, back in the 1980s, which seems like ancient history now, that one of the evangelical authors that got lots of attention was Os Guinness. Evangelicals raved about his work. At that point I had not read much of what he wrote. At that point he seemed rather apolitical to me and that seemed to be what evangelicals back then liked–someone that was either apolitical or leaned slightly to the left. It was considered in some evangelical circles to be rather avant-garde to lean to the left politically. What many evangelicals did not seem to realize was that all politics is, at root, theological and that politics is only someone’s outworking of his theology. Therefore, if your politics leaned to the left, so did your theology.

Many evangelicals, even today, still have not figured this out.

I have wondered if the evangelicals who loved Os Guinness back in the 80s would still love him today, but I have doubts about that due to a column on https://www.wnd.com/2021/05/evil-critical-race.theory written by Art Moore. Mr. Moore says: “One year ago, few Americans outside of higher education had heard of Critical Race Theory, which contends the concept of race is not biological but rather a culturally invented category designed by white people to oppress people of color. Now, having leaked from its academic lab, CRT is spreading exponentially to school boards, corporate offices the military and governmental agencies…But it’s urgent that citizens of this nation realize that CRT is not merely ‘erroneous teaching’ and that the ‘leak’ was no accident, warns Os Guinness, an Oxford-educated scholar with an unusual cultural and political vantage point. Born to Christian medical missionaries in China where he was a witness of Mao’s communist revolution, Guinness contents that CRT is part of an intentional, systematic, revolutionary movement in America stretching back to the 1930s that intends to replace this unique experiment in ordered liberty with a system responsible for the deaths of more than 100 million people in the 20th century…The so-called ‘cancel culture’ and Critical Race Theory are ‘the fruit’ of what has been described as the ‘long march through the institutions’ and ‘the triumph of cultural Marxism, or neo-Marxism,’ Guinness said in an interview with Eric Metaxas.”

And Moore observed that “Guinness noted that the term ‘long march through the institutions’ was coined by communist student activist Rudi Dutschke in the 1960s. It was popularized by German-American Marxist scholar Herbert Marcuse of the so-called Frankfurt school of critical theory in his 1972 book Counterrevolution and Revolt.”

So this entire thing we have been fed is a communist construct. Moore noted that “The sexual revolution and cultural Marxism, Guinness told Metaxas, are ‘the heirs of the French Revolution.” And Guinness tells us “The tragedy is today we’re switching from the American Revolution to the heirs of the French Revolution, and that switch is disastrous.” Guinness is right on the money here.

Moore noted: “Guinness, a British citizen who has lived in the United States since 1968, said that many evangelical leaders are ‘incredibly naive’ about what is happening today because they don’t see the big picture. He recalled the many Zoom calls with evangelical pastors in which he has participated amid the cultural upheaval following the death of George Floyd. Many of these pastors speak of ‘social justice’ Guinness said, without understanding they have ‘drunk the kool aid’ of cultural Marxism.”

Guinness tells us that “The way of the cultural Marxist, the radical left, is only power, and it makes the problem worse, not better.” Those that understand Marxism know that this is intentional. not coincidental.

As I worked over this article, the thought came to me–where were the Christians when all this has been happening? Sad to say, they were probably out to lunch–a long, prolonged lunch, which is probably where they drank the kool aid of cultural Marxism!

Unless evangelical pastors start waking up to what’s going on and warning their congregations about all this the future of the church in our day is bleak indeed. I know the Lord will win the victory in the end, but I think he wants to use His people to help win that victory. If His people have been put to sleep with cultural Marxist kool aid that victory may take longer than it otherwise would have.

Deceive The Parents Just Like You’ve Always Done

by Al Benson Jr.

Member, Board of Directors, Confederate Society of America

For decades I have been telling people to remove their kids from the public school system because it is a corrupt institution that indoctrinates kids rather than educating them. The material I will deal with here proves that contention.

Someone sent me a copy of an article on https://dawsoncountyjournal.com that dealt with this. The story was written by Art Moore. I will quote some of what he had to say here. He said: “Amid complaints from parents that their children are being ‘indoctrinated’ a Missouri school district is advising English teachers to create a fake curriculum and keep the real one hidden. The real one is focused on ‘antiracist’ activism and issues of ‘white privilege,’ the Daily Wire reported. The author of the memo is Natalie Fallert, the literacy speech coordinator for grades 6-12 in the Rockwood School District, serving several towns west of St. Louis that are overwhelmingly white. She told middle and high school teachers in the district that parents had been complaining ‘we are pushing an agenda, we are pushing Critical Race Theory…we are teaching kids to be social activists.'”

Part of this curriculum consists of a video, “Intersectionality 101” a video produced by the Southern Poverty Law Center. Any school anywhere using this outfit’s material, public or private, ought to be separated from immediately if not sooner. If anything will propagandize kids it is material put out by the SPLC. This is the outfit that has sought to label all legitimate Southern Heritage Groups as “hate groups.” That tell you anything about them?

Interestingly enough the complaints have originated due to protocols caused by the Chinese virus that let parents see the real classroom instruction for the first time. Art Moore observes: “The (classroom) assignments are now visible to at-home learners in a tool called Canvas. So Fallert has a solution: This doesn’t mean throw out the lesson and find a new one. Just pull the resource off Canvas so parents cannot see it…Keep teaching! Just don’t make everything visible on Canvas. This is not being deceitful. This is just doing what you have done for years. Prior to the pandemic you didn’t send everything home or have it available. You taught in your classroom and things were peachy keen. We are going old-school…”

Do you realize what she is saying here? Stop and reflect on it. She is telling teachers to keep on pushing the radical leftist indoctrination in her public school district–just make sure you don’t let the parents in on your dirty little secret. Continue to withhold information from the parents–just like you always did before the pandemic came along! This should be a revelation to parents all across the country. Do you think if this is going on in a school district in Missouri that it ain’t going on in the public school your kids attend? As the man says “Dream on Alice!”

Naturally the school district that employs Ms. Fallert has issued a statement that is an attempt at damage control–telling parents that the school district really views them as “allies” in the education of “our children.” Forgive me folks, but that statement is ranker than a pile of Texas cow chips in the middle of August. The school district there regards the parents as “allies” if they are willing to submit their children to leftist indoctrination. Should they not be willing to do that, the school district will consider them troublemakers to be dealt with accordingly.

This situation sounds so very much like what went on during the Textbook Protest in Kanawha County, West Virginia during the mid-1970s that it is almost like history repeating itself. And the statement about not being deceitful to parents by withholding information from them is ludicrous. Whenever you intentionally withhold information from parents about what their kids are being taught it is a major deceit! But the public schools have done this for so long their minions do not consider it deceitful–withholding information from parents has become standard operating procedure.

Mr. Moore also notes that “The Biden administration, has submitted a new rule that would fund critical race theory in public schools.” Beginning to get the picture yet? Your school districts will continue to push far-left programs like Critical Race Theory and the feds will gladly pay them for it. So much for the public school system as the parent’s “ally.” Anyone believing that hogwash hasn’t been paying attention.

What is going on in Missouri should be a wakeup call to parents to begin taking their kids out of the public school system and checking out other alternatives. And Christians should especially heed this. Unfortunately, I am afraid most of them won’t.

More Apostasy Funded by George Soros

by Al Benson Jr.

Member, Board of Directors, Confederate Society of America

Today I received a newsletter from an evangelical organization which contained the following: “Faithful America bills itself as a Christian organization, but the pro-LGBT organization got its start as an offshoot of the far-Left National Council of Churches. Two groups funded by atheist George Soros have served as ”fiscal sponsors’ of FA, funneling money to the activist group.” Many evangelical groups are not this frank and open, so this was a bit refreshing.

I can remember, years ago now, the John Birch Society published an informative booklet called Apostasy and the National Council of Churches. It went into a great deal of information as to many in the NCC that were in bed with the Communists and who were actual Communists themselves.

With that in mind, I decided to check out Faithful America to see what leftist goodies it offered the party faithful as well as the gullible. I was not disappointed.

I came across some far-left tidbits on https://www.idealist.org which tells us that “Faithful America is the nation’s largest online community of progressive Christians working to fight back against the religious right’s hateful political agenda and renew the church’s prophetic role in building a more free and just society.” You have to read through and discern the aesopian language to know what this means and not be fooled by the “lovey-dovey” rhetoric. What they are telling you with the word “progressive” is that real Christianity is their enemy. and anyone to the right of Lenin is to be attacked without letup. For them this is not just a minor difference of opinion–it is a war and the true followers of Christ have targets painted on their backs.

The idealist article continues: “In this moment of political and theological crisis for American Christianity, there is an opportunity to mobilize the Faithful America community as a powerful tool in confronting emergent threats to the church’s prophetic vocation, especially white nationalism and misogyny.” Did you get that? The real enemy of the church is not over on the left–it’s white extremism! Sounds like the line the Harris/Biden Regime has been peddling doesn’t it? That alone should tell you where “Faithful America” is really at.

I came across another article of interest on https://thewillcountynews.com which listed a ton of groups that have been funded by George Soros. This list originally came from Discover the Networks and sure enough, way down on the list, #74 to be exact, was Faithful America. Now anyone who is even remotely aware of where George Soros is coming from has to realize that, if globalist George Soros funds something it ain’t Christian!

Yet another article, posted 1/3/21 on https://www1.cbn.com notes that those who have problems with Faithful America say it uses faith “as a cover to silence conservatives.” From what I have seen of it so far, I don’t doubt that in the least. This article continues: “Scott Walter, the head of Influence Watch which tracks the activity and funding of groups like Faithful America, describes them as ‘Just another half-fake, left-wing nest of operatives. They get taken much more seriously than they deserve’.”

You have to wonder how many gullible Christians such groups deceive because they responded to the rhetoric without doing any homework. And the left dearly loves to gull unsuspecting Christians into supporting leftist agendas. They laugh all the way to the bank while Christians contribute to those that are trying to destroy their faith. This is Holy Week–a good time for Christians to begin to learn to discern who they should support and who they should expose as anti-Christs.

Yankees & Marxists–Birds of a Feather

by Al Benson Jr.

Member, Board of Directors, Confederate Society of America

Years ago Dr. Clyde Wilson wrote a series of excellent articles which he titled The Yankee Problem in America. I don’t remember if he ever made this into a book or not, but if he didn’t it would be a good book. You may still be able to locate copies of some of the articles on the internet–if they haven’t been removed under the guise of being politically incorrect, which they thankfully are.

Let me say at the outset, when I refer to Yankees I am not and I repeat, not, talking about everyone born and raised in the North. There are lots of good folks in the North who would not ever qualify as Yankees, nor would most of them want to.

Yankee is not your geographical location on the map. Yankee is a mindset. Let that thought sink in a bit. Some of the most stalwart Southern patriots I have known were born and raised in the North. Those that are still there are good Copperheads. But you have Yankees in the South too. They speak with Southern accents and they eat fried chicken and okra. We refer to them as scalawags because they have sold out their heritage in order to gain some advantage from the Yankee types who control most of the federal government.

I can recall once trying to explain who was a Yankee to a lady from Illinois. When I got through, she said “You are talking about a control freak.” She was right. That’s what a Yankee is. He, or she, wants to totally control what you think, how you live, what you are allowed to believe, what you are supposed to not believe, what you can or can’t do with your own property, etc. You get the message, I hope. If not you just ain’t been paying attention.

During this Chinese-induced pandemic we have suffered through we had one governor in a Northern state that issued “mandates” (which really have no force as laws) that prevented people from going out and planting gardens in their own backyards. Not planting a garden in the backyard was, somehow, supposed to help combat the pandemic. It was never explained quite how that worked, but then the governor never had to. She did it because she felt she could, and for no other reason. I think the Supreme Court in her state eventually said her mandates were too draconian and overturned most of them. But that took awhile and lots of citizens in her state marched and protested before it happened. Had they not it probably never would have happened. The old saying “People deserve what they permit” is probably all too true.

So now you have some idea of how Yankees want to totally run your life. What about the Marxists? What do they really want, in spite of the “news” media telling us how really wonderful they are?

Well, the Marxists, (and there are lots of them in Washington and in your state capitols) have their version of what is best for you (and ultimately for them). They want to totally control what you do. They want to control what you are allowed to see and not see, what you are allowed to believe and what you should not believe, what you can and can’t do with your own property and so on. In other words they want to totally control your entire life. So the question arises–what is the difference between the Yankee and the Marxist? If you look at what they both want there really is not much difference. In fact some Yankees have ended up becoming Marxists because the transition from one to the other causes them no pain or inconvenience at all. Both want government control of your entire existence. They are, in a sense, interchangeable with one another. They want to decide how your children should be educated–what they should learn and what they are not allowed to learn. Public “education” in this country (something advocated by Karl Marx) gives them much of that ability. Private Christian schools are anathema to both the Marxist and the Yankee. They don’t think they should be allowed to exist and if they do then they need to be strongly regulated so all the kids who attend them won’t grow up to be “white supremacists” or Christian patriots. Such must be avoided at all costs if the Yankee/Marxists are to be able to retain their power to run our lives.

The Yankee/Marxist recognizes the Christian faith as his main adversary. Unfortunately, most Christians in our day fail to recognize the Yankee/Marxist as one of their main adversaries because their faith has been neutralized to the point where discernment has been replaced with “feel good” theology. Who do you suppose is responsible for that? When churches post Black Lives Matter banners outside their churches then you have to realize that the faith in that church has been severely compromised. It has become, in effect, an outpost for Marxist revolution. Christians should avoid such churches like the plague because they are a plague on the Christian faith.

Our ability to recognize our adversaries has been watered down. We had better wake up and start to reverse that trend while we still have some ability to do that, lest the day come upon us when that ability is gone.

“Cultural Genocide 1861-2020”

by Al Benson Jr.

Member, Board of Directors, Confederate Society of America

The Kennedy Brothers, in the third edition of The South Was Right! Shotwell Publishing, Columbia, South Carolina dealt with the ongoing problem of cultural genocide in chapter 17.

They observe, in the opening comments of this chapter that: “While updating the third edition of this book we found this chapter to be saddest chapter in the entire book. It is sad because had Southern Heritage organizations and leadership took our advice back in 1994 when we issued the second edition, we would not be witnessing the massive slandering and destruction of our Southern society we see all around us today (2020). In 1994 we pointed out that it will require bold political action to halt the Yankee Empire’s genocidal attack on the South. Our call for bold action was met with slanderous accusations of treason to the good ole U.S.A. and charges that the Kennedy Twins were radical and extremist–such slanderous accusations did not come from anti-South neo-Marxists but from leaders in Southern heritage organizations. One national leader told us, ‘We have more important things to do,’ while another told us we were ‘too confrontational.’ Pacified Southerners preferred to ignore the approaching neo-Marxist apocalypse while quietly meeting, eating, and retreating. Their timid, pathetic, non-defense of the South consisted of nothing more than pinning ‘I attended the convention’ medals on their chest or diligently researching their genealogy to justify the wearing of one more ancestor medal on their heritage ribbon. Such Southerners have no room to mock Nero for fiddling while Rome burned!”

I have run into people like that and I am willing to bet some of you have also. These are the folks who seek to live on the laurels of their ancestors without really trying to defend the cause for which their ancestors fought. Most of them probably attended public schools where they were taught really faulty “history” about their ancestors and the righteous cause for which they fought (and it wasn’t slavery) and whether they realize it or not, they have absorbed much of that fake history.

It is lots easier to subdue a people that has been taught bad history about their foundations. We see this happening today in government schools all across the land where Marxist programs like Critical Race Theory and similar programs like the 1619 Project are being used in colleges and K-12 government schools to give our young folks a terribly false and disjointed view of our history while at the same time portraying communism as something to be grasped for and sought after.

And what is our response? Mostly ambivalence. Even here in the South it is so much easier to just “go with the flow” and not bother to stand up and speak out for your history and your heritage. After all, they might call you a “racist” and that’s the last thing most folks want. Easier to just “sit down and shut up” and most folks in our day, even Southerners, have been taught to avoid any controversy that might draw the wrong attention to themselves.

Problem is, as the Kennedy Brothers tell us, this has been going on since at least 1861 and it shows no signs whatever of abating in our day. The Kennedys observe, accurately, that “The Southern political scalawags and their fellow travelers are the keys to maintaining Northern liberal political domination of our Southern homeland.” They liken those people to the French traitors who helped the Nazis in World War 2. The Kennedys tell us “Southern scalawags have led the fight to destroy our precious Southern heritage. The reason? Because they owe their allegiance, not to the people of the South, not to the principles of Constitutional liberty, but to the establishment, the power brokers who control the supreme federal government.”

The Kennedys noted, on page 399, that “Our Southern society has a heritage rich in cultural diversity. The study of the various cultures that comprise this heritage is certainly relevant and laudable. The problem is that the liberal education establishment has assumed unto itself the right to decide which cultures are relevant and which ones must be ignored. It has assumed unto itself the right to teach cultural diversity in a manner that will best support its left-of-center liberal bias. By ignoring and or falsifying our Southern heritage the liberal establishment is engaging in a deliberate campaign of cultural genocide.”

There is much more in chapter 17 than I can ever go into here. You really need to read this third edition of The South Was Right! and look at where we are in our day through the lens of what the Kennedys tell us. I know both of these men. They have done the homework–and where Southerners have failed to live up to their birthright, they don’t hesitate to tell us.

One thing we need to do that would be a step in the right direction is to start checking out educational alternatives to our present government education system. In spite of the occasional good teacher, that system will never give us the truth about our history and heritage and if we don’t learn that truth we will be forever reinventing the wheel in every generation and wondering why the wheel is square!

Some Politically Correct (bad) History For Oklahoma

by Al Benson Jr.

Member, Board of Directors, Confederate Society of America

Way back before I was married I lived for part of one year in Oklahoma, in addition to having spent quite a bit of time over the years in and out of the state. Oklahoma has always been one of my favorite spots in the country. I always found the folks there warm and friendly.

The year we lived there my Dad and I went down to Oklahoma City to find out about getting work in the state park system. That didn’t work out for us and it’s probably good that it didn’t, for had it done so I would not have gone back east and ended up marrying my wife. So the Lord had a plan for us in leaving Oklahoma. That being said, I still remember Oklahoma with fondness and my wife and I have visited it on more than one occasion as I wanted her to see one of the places in the West that I had learned to love.

So it was with a certain degree of sadness that I recently read an article by Allan Wall on https://vdare.com/writers/allan-wall abolishing the Oklahoma Land Run Monument from the community college in Oklahoma City.

Mr. Wall observed: “The land runs, which were actual races for land, are part of Oklahoma history. It’s how a significant portion of the state was settled. The first land run was in 1889, settling an area of central Oklahoma called ‘the unassigned lands’ which was uninhabited and not belonging to any Indian tribe. that’s the land run in which Oklahoma City was founded, jumping the population from zero to 10,000 in one day. In this era of Heritage Haters, the Land Runs are under attack. Now a monument at the Oklahoma City college has been removed…The large concrete slab, visible outside the main building on campus, depicted those who came to Oklahoma for the Land Run of 1889 as heroes and innovators, OCCC officials said. Executive Vice President Danita Rose, whose maternal grandfather was of Cherokee descent, said that the decision to remove the monument was a top priority for the executive leadership team.” In other words, the politically correct element at the college wanted this monument gone regardless of its value to the heritage of the state.

Some noted that it was the old “I’m Cherokee” argument but Mr. Wall gives the lie to that foolishness when he notes: “The land settled in the 1889 land run was not Cherokee land, had never been Cherokee l land and was never settled by the Cherokee.” And, interestingly enough, it had been a Cherokee who, in 1879,suggested that these unassigned lands be opened up to white settlement!

Danita Rose commented that: “If our goal is to create a community that is inclusive and welcoming to everyone, a monument that depicts cruelty and oppression can’t be on display here.” Frankly, I am at a loss to see how a monument to a land rush for land that was uninhabited contributes to cruelty and oppression, but then that’s just me. I’m sure the politically correct leftists among us can point to how any monument, anywhere, that they don’t particularly like contributes to cruelty and oppression in their narrow minds. I suppose they’d like to see the Land Rush monument replaced with a statue of either Marx or Lenin, those compassionate champions of humanity whose followers killed millions. Now wouldn’t such be a major contribution to “diversity”?

Actually what it all comes down to is that, when it comes to monuments “no white folks need apply.” In this day and age the definition of diversity means everybody except white folks. We are simply beyond the pale when it comes to diversity.

The Land Run of 1889 did not create oppression and/or cruelty but that doesn’t matter. The leftists claim it did and that’s all that matters. If you dare to question their historical knowledge or perspective then you are nothing but a racist bigot–so sit down and shut up!

It would seem that the Community College of Oklahoma City has succumbed to the thrall of leftist dogma so prevalent on most campuses today. Now, even with community colleges you have to be careful where you send your kids as there are fewer and fewer places where they won’t be bombarded with socialist doctrines. I wonder, with all that is going on today, how much Communist China has to do with what is being taught in many colleges.

“When Rebel Was Cool”

A book review by Al Benson Jr.

.
Recently I read Ron Kennedy’s new book When Rebel Was Cool, published by Shotwell Publishing in Columbia, South Carolina. This is a book that should touch the average reader on many levels. It is a poignant story the Kennedy Brothers, Ron and Donnie’s “growing up years” from 1950-1965. Being only nine years older than the Kennedy Brothers I found myself comparing my “growing up years” to theirs.

They grew up in rural South Mississippi in a time when the results of Yankee “reconstruction” in the South had not quite worn off yet–100 years after the War of Northern Aggression I was in parts of the South in the late 1950s and so I can attest to the results of Yankee “reconstruction” in that part of the country.

Ron explained why he wrote this book, and I can identify with his reasons. He wrote: “These stories and photographs–some over 100 years old and in poor condition–are our stories written for our grandchildren and all the grandchildren of the South, even if they no longer live in the South. One day our grandchildren may want to know why their grandfathers loved the South so much, especially during a time when the leftwing secular world is actively engaged in destroying Confederate monuments and viciously slandering the honor of the men who wore the gray in the War for Southern Independence…I hope and pray that one day our grandchildren and other Southern grandchildren will read these accounts, otherwise they will never know the truth–a truth that sadly, today, is not allowed to be publicly told.”

My grandchildren have always lived in the North. Only the oldest one has been in the South–but I want them to know these truths as well so they will not embrace the Marxist lies told about the good people of the South.

Ron dealt with many issues in this book and gives you an accurate picture of much that went on in the South during his growing up years. His comments on racial segregation are some you will never read in Yankee “history” books–but they are true nonetheless. On page 18 he noted: “Today, most Americans think that segregation (white supremacy) was something established in the South, but in reality, it was something already established in the North and then, after the
War, imported from the North. During the War, Yankee General ‘Beast’ Butler established ‘Black Codes’ in occupied Louisiana. His ‘Black Codes’ were based upon similar laws then in effect in his home state of Massachusetts. Most Americans incorrectly think that slavery was strictly a Southern issue, but in reality, it was an American issue–the North being primarily responsible for slavery in America. Very few folks know that slavery lasted 75 years longer in Massachusetts than it did in Mississippi.” And he commented also that “…Massachusetts and other Northern states earned much of their wealth from their involvement in the African slave trade and then enacted exclusion laws to prevent free blacks from coming into their states!”

Ron also commented on life in the rural South and said some things I, as growing up in semi-rural Eastern Massachusetts could identify with. He mentioned the three-room rural school house he and Donnie attended and how it had no inside gym, only playground equipment in the school yard. The first school house I attended had only four rooms, for grades 1-4, and the next school house I went to had only six rooms and no inside gym, only playground equipment in the school yard

.
Ron mentioned the kids, as they got older, taking guns to school so they could go hunting after school was out and when they got older and drove to school there was often a rifle rack in the back window of the truck that was driven to school–and no one shot a people on the way home from school. Today many parents would be alarmed at this, but in those days there were seldom any problems. Nowadays kids get arrested for bringing a toy gun to school for “show and tell” or if they even point their finger at another kid and say “bang.” We have gone from responsibility to sheer panic–and mostly over nothing!

Ron also noted something else that struck a familiar chord with me–wild berry picking in the Summer. Many rural Southern folks did this because it helped to put food on the table. My Grandfather, Dad and I often picked wild blueberries in the Summer–not because we had to, but because my Grandmother was a good cook and made delicious pies.

The South has often been called “The Bible Belt” because it is the area of the country where the Christian faith is most evident and where more folks go to church than in other areas. And to get through the Yankee “reconstruction” and the really hard times that followed it Southern folks had to have a strong faith in the Lord to see them through. Life in the post-war South was not easy, nor was it easy for the next hundred years! And, here, Ron had a warning for Christian folks. He said: “It is a sad fact of history that when a people are struggling during hard times or when outside tyrants oppress their nation the people tend to ‘look to God’ for comfort, guidance and help. But once freedom is won or prosperity returns, these same people (or the next generation) tend to ignore the very God who sustained them during the hard times. I fear that this is happening to the South just as it happened to God’s people of Israel, as recorded in the Old Testament.” There is a warning for us here today–if we will but heed it! Ron noted on page 57 the apostasy that engulfed the North in the decades before the War and how many religious leaders in the South saw the War as a spiritual struggle. There was definitely that aspect to it–and it has never been dealt with by our “historians.” Ron discussed the differences between Northern and Southern cultures on page 93.

He commented on the Civil Rights Movement on page 144 and how it was resisted by Southern folks not because they hated blacks but because it was something being pushed and promoted by the federal government–the same federal government the fought against their ancestors and pushed “reconstruction” down their throats.

And he noted on page 150 how much of the so-called “history” and commentary in our day is employed as a ‘divide and conquer” strategy to divide the races off against one another so they will not realize that they have more in common than what separates them and that keeps them from working together against globalist politicians who plan to do both races in one way or another.

Toward the end of the book Ron had a chapter called How to Speak Southern Redneck words and phrases and I really enjoyed this. It is a compendium of colloquial Southern phrases, many of which, surprisingly, I also heard growing up in the North. Quite a few of these were used in my own family in my growing up years and were familiar to me. I don’t know if they originated in the South and made their way to the North or what, but I sure heard a batch of them from both family and friends growing up.

There is much more in Ron’s book than I could ever cover in a book review. I have only touched on some of the high spots and areas that struck me personally. Reading it caused me to think back to my own childhood and to the hard times we had when I was growing up, We were not “punished with poverty” as the South was, but life was not always easy street for us either.

Maybe some of us older folks need to read this and then call it to the attention of our grandchildren so they will possibly begin to get a glimpse of what life was like for us “back in the day” and what it may end up being like for them again if they refuse to heed the warning signs about the direction we seem to be headed in.

The Issue Is Always Communist Revolution

by Al Benson Jr.

An article in the New American Magazine for July 6th of this year by Alex Newman observed that: “Leftists have long used the infamous slogan The issue is never the issue, the issue is always the revolution. This saying gives you an idea of what communist revolutionaries are really all about, no matter what they tell you or the lying news media. The issue they claim to be promoting or endorsing is, at root, not what they are really all about. That issue, whatever it may be is really only a way to promote communist revolution in America. So, when BLM or Antifa or some other group with a noble-sounding name tells you they are combatting “systemic racism” or “police brutality” or some other so-called righteous cause you know it is really all about promoting communist revolution in the streets no matter what they tell you.

Their aim is really promoting communist revolution and using some noble-sounding cause or rhetoric to do that because that is what they are really all about. The noble-sounding language usually fools the uninitiated and the “useful idiots” into thinking they are really doing the world some good by their efforts when all they are doing is becoming “pawns in the game” for the Marxists.

Alex Newman continued: “That could not be more obvious today, as those seeking to remake America use the longtime communist strategy of applying pressure from below and pressure from above to trap Americans in their pincer grip to reconstruct America….The revolutionaries and their backers–billionaire backers such as George Soros and the Rockefeller dynasty–are attempting to undermine civilization, limited government, the rule of law, Christianity, traditional morality, free markets and individual liberty by equating them all to ‘white supremacy’ and ‘structural racism’.”

So all those riots, looting and burnings that the “news” media told you were “spontaneous”–well, guess what folks–they weren’t! The news media, so called, lied to you. And what’s more, they knew they were lying! So don’t kid yourself about the integrity of the news media. It doesn’t have any! Most of the news media supports communist revolution because many of their talking heads know what it’s really all about. They job is to make sure you don’t know. Alex Newman stated, later in his article what I felt was a good summation. He said: “Simply stated, the riots aim to dismantle American and Christian civilization, and replace them with something new.” Do I need to tell you what the “something” is? I surely hope not because if I do then you really haven’t been paying attention.

And our “institutions of higher learning” have been helping out with the communist revolution also. In an article on https://www.redstate.com for September 4, 2020 they carried an article, the headline for which was Washington and Lee University Offers Course in ‘Overthrowing the State.’ Supposedly this information was brought forward by a student who said “I am completely disappointed with the University’s blatant appeal to Marxism through this class.” He better be careful. If they find out who brought this to people’s attention this student will find himself on the outside looking in! This is what your universities are teaching your kids today–and to think that many of you are paying through the none for this kind of “education.”

Then there was an article on http://www.worldnetdaily.com for September 2, 2020 by Michael Brown which said: “Is it true that leaders of the BLM movement, including one of the cofounders, are calling on the spirits of the dead? That they claim to receive spiritual power from the deceased? That they talk with these spirits and even give them names? The answer to all these questions is yes. This is now an open secret.” Maybe Christians who support the BLM should reconsider that support, lest you find yourselves fighting against God.

Just remember, all this riotous stuff going on today is nothing more than communist revolution and those that support it support communist revolution. And those that refuse to speak up and expose that revolution for fear of being labeled as “racists” are, by their silence, complicit with that revolution.
