Sorry To Disappoint The Left-Wingers But Southern Heritage Ain’t Dead

by Al Benson Jr.

I realize the scions of the political and theological left have been trying to kill Southern heritage and culture for a long time now, but I have news for them–despite some victories on their part–it ain’t working. Oh, I realize they control the media and most of the educational outlets in the country, but the truth is that people who understand this are just finding ways to get around them. and ignore their diatribes.

April is Confederate History Month and there have been lots of Confederate events around the country that what passes for a news media just ignores. We have one right here in North Louisiana that is routinely ignored by the “news” media called Flags Across the Ouachita. Members from several Sons of Confederate Veterans camps in this area gather one Friday afternoon in April at rush hour on the Lea Joyner Bridge across the Ouachita River with their Confederate flags and display them to the rush hour crowd as they pass on by. The response by the rush hour crowd is overwhelmingly positive with people honking their horns, waving and giving us a thumbs up. They appreciate this display of our (and their) heritage. If response to this event was negative you can bet the “news” media would be on hand to make people aware of that, but since the response is mostly positive they ignore it.

I recently came into possession of a new book called What The Confederate Flag Means To Me published by Sea Raven Press P O Box 1484 Spring Hill, Tennessee 37174-1484. It is an interesting compilation of the thoughts and comments of over 30 different people, not all of them from the South, on what the Confederate flag means to them personally and how they view it in the overall context of American culture.

Two overarching themes come through many of their comments. One is that many folks view the Confederate Battle Flag in a Christian context. The St. Andrews Cross on the battle flag gives it a Christian context for them and Christian meaning for them. I can’t say I disagree. I have some Scottish ancestors as well as a Confederate ancestor and so the St. Andrews Cross is a part of my heritage on both fronts. And I am not ashamed of that–I am thankful for it.

The other theme that is reflected in many of the comments is that the Confederate Flag is recognized as a symbol of resistance to tyranny and “big government.” In today’s context I don’t think that can be argued with. In the main, the people who cannot seem to grasp that are those “useful idiots” that have been spawned and influenced by the leftists in this country.

Years ago those in the patriotic movement in this country recognized their their main adversaries were liberals, socialists, and communists. These are the exact same people who are opposed to the Southern Heritage Movement. That should tell you something. The liberals and socialists are nothing more than “slow communists” who just have not made the full transition over to full-blown Marxism quite yet. But they are working on it whether they even realize it or not.

There is a whole section in the communist “prayer book” on how to combat Southern heritage and the first chapter of that section tells them how to lie about it. Whatever else they have learned they seem to have memorized that first chapter! All they do is lie about us and our heritage and culture. These lies are supposed to shut us up. Mostly they don’t. They make us more determined to promote the truth and expose leftist fables for what they are. The leftists haven’t figured that out yet, but they will someday if given enough time. Our job is to educate ordinary folks and expose leftist lies and liars.

What Are The Democrats Afraid Of In Arizona ?

by Al Benson Jr.

Member, Board of Directors, Confederate Society of America

I have watched with considerable interest as the go-ahead for an audit of the votes in the last (stolen) election in the state of Arizona has been given. What interested me most in all of this was the Democrats’ efforts to thwart this audit. Those efforts continue as I write this.

My question in all of this is: If the democrats really want to make sure this election was on the up and up, then why are they pulling out all the stops to try to prevent an audit of the votes? The answer to that should be obvious even to the uninformed–if they stop and ponder it for an hour or two. The obvious answer is–they don’t want an honest audit because they already know an honest audit will change the outcome in Arizona. And if that happens there, will other states then be tempted to do the same thing? That would create all manner of problems for them and so they have to try to move heaven and earth to forestall that possibility.

There was a good article on https://www.thegatewaypundit.com for April 27th about this. Lots of people pooh-pooh the Gateway Pundit, but I noticed that http://www.lewrockwell.com picked this one up and Lew Rockwell has a reputation for being a solid site.

The article was by Joe Hoft and Mr. Hoft noted: “There is yet another George Soros connected crooked nonprofit involved in the attempt to stop the Maricopa County election audit. we already reported on how the Protect Democracy Project joined three legal teams in threatening the auditors who are attempting to perform an audit in Maricopa County. Democrats in Arizona are petrified–They’re bringing in Marc Elias’s Perkins Coie to make threats and make the Maricopa Country audit go away. Patriots in Arizona are under attack by far-left lunatics who disregard nonprofit laws to fund their anti-American actions. The national Democratic machine is in panic mode over the Arizona Senate’s Maricopa County ballot audit….But today we can report that another Democrat nonprofit is involved in the audit in Maricopa County. This nonprofit is from top of the Democrat Not-for-profit (NFP) heap. This tells you the Democrat socialists are really, really worried about the Maricopa audit, to have deployed this weapon. The NFP now entering the Maricopa County election audit is American Oversight. Its president, Dominique Bravo, is from New York State and is strongly affiliated with the Working Families Party, the country’s most powerful socialist political party, started in New York State in1998 with a party presence now in 21 states. The WFP always hooks up with the Democratic Party. ”

Mr. Hoft continues: “This NFP is yet another one from the Democrat stable which is a 501(c)(3) and although it is required by law to be strictly nonpartisan and charitable, it is anything but. It is a well-funded ,cold, and calculating legal hit team, initially designed to attack President Trump. Now it is involved in Maricopa County Arizona, attempting to sabotage and halt the forensic audit being conducted by the Arizona Senate. Located in Washington, D.C. this charity had gross receipts of $3,732,681 in 2019…” Since the government redacts financial data when they post any public documents the public really has no idea who gave American Oversight all that dinero. As an appendage of the Democrat Establishment American Oversight cannot take the chance of letting this Arizona audit continue and risk other states being then emboldened to do the same thing and thus risking the possibility of Donald Trump being returned to the presidency because then there will be no doubt about the election fraud perpetrated on him last November.

It has also been noted that George Soros funded the Working Families Party mentioned in this article and that Soros campaigned for Democrat Senate candidate Raphael Warnock in Georgia–another state that is in sore need of a forensic audit on its vote tally for last November.

Destroying American Western Culture

by Al Benson Jr.

Member, Board of Directors, Confederate Society of America

I have noted over the years that the American Left (yes, Virginia, there is an American Left) has sought to destroy and basically try to outlaw Southern history and culture in this country by trying to tie all of it to the slavery issue. Suffice it to say that the attempt to do that is monstrously false and a blatant lie which all but the “useful idiots” influenced by the leftists have by now figured out.

However, not as many folks have figured out that the American Left also has in its sights the destruction of the ranching, farming, mining culture of the American West. The reason the American Left has designated these two cultural groups as the ones that need to be destroyed is that these two unique American cultures are just about the last two major cultural groups in this country that seek to exercise cultural independence and promote limited government.

In the South (south central where I live) they are trying to erase our history be removing our flags and monuments from every place they can, even to the point of removing Confederate monuments from battlefields. Resistance to this is beginning to surface in many areas but it needs to increase even more. One thing they have not been able to do here in the South is to destroy, for the main part, our way of making a living–yet!

In the American West it is a little different. In the West our leftist protagonists have figured out that if they can cripple the ranching and farming ways of life then they can silence their opposition.

Just yesterday I read an article on https://theduran.com for April 25th, the headline for which was Oregon Bill to BAN Livestock–Stunning War on Farming/Ranching written by Dewey Fernfield. Mr. Fernfield observed that “Oregon Bill IP13 would criminalize raising food animals in the state, and reclassify animal husbandry practices as ‘sexual assault.’ The bill specifies that animals can only be eaten after dying of natural causes (at which point, aged/disease3d meat is not good). Oregon’s 12,000 beef producers raising about 1.3 million head of cattle are slated for elimination, as traditional farming and ranching is shut down in favor of lab-grown meat and indoor farms owned by the technocrats–a perfect way to force the population into perfect slavery. Christian breaks it down in this Ice Age Farmer broadcast.” That broadcast just might be something to check out.

I also ran across an article by Chris Gill from May 7, 2018 on https://pitchstonewaters.com which stated: “Since its conquest during the Mexican War, more than 50% of the West has belonged to the government, and ranching has been an integral part of Western settlement. The number of ranchers on public land has fallen by one-fourth since 1970, as agencies, allied with ‘conservationists’ steadily force ranchers off public lands. The deliberate ‘eviction’ of ranchers and livestock is not only destroying the West’s precious ranching culture but a key component of the region’s economic base.”

Let me state right here that this is the name of the game–purposeful destruction of the culture of the American West–because as in the South, the American West produces those still capable of independent thought and action–those who want the federal government and all its alphabet agencies to just back off and let them live their lives. And the federal government has no intention of doing that!!! The feds want to control all aspects of our lives, right down to what they allow us to have for supper tonight. Range-bred beef will be outlawed and the culture that dares to try to grow it will be outlawed.

This should be an excellent area for the nullification process to be used it, both at the federal and state levels to curb the growth of excessive government. I have to wonder about these technocrats who want the sole responsibility for producing what meat we will now be allowed to consume–how many of them are dedicated Leftists? I am afraid we might not like the answer to that question.

I hope the good folks in Oregon rise up and demand of their legislators .that they vote against this utter foolishness–actually it is not foolishness. I am positive this is by design and it needs to be exposed as such and repudiated.

Photography as Propaganda

by Al Benson Jr.

Member, Board of Directors, Confederate Society of America

With April being Confederate History Month it seems only appropriate to take some note of a bit of the “history” we have been informed about that really wasn’t.

Any of us who have looked at recent history realize that photography has often been used as one method of promoting propaganda. This was raised to an art form during the Viet Nam War, but that was not its origin. I can recall seeing pictures taken by Communists decades ago where someone in the photo had been removed because the Reds did not want him to appear with the rest of the people in the photo. So there are cases where photographic evidence of something is not really evidence of what you think it was. It is evidence of what the originators of the photo want you to see.

So it should not surprise us if this technique was in vogue back during the War of Southern Independence aka the War of Northern Aggression.

Tom DiLorenzo commented on this recently in a comment on lewrockwell.com Although he did not go into many specifics I am familiar enough with Tom Dilorenzo to know that if he did not have the evidence of this he would not have said anything about it.

So I did a bit of digging on my own and, sure enough, there was some paydirt to be found. I came across an article by Dave Rogers from back in January of 2008 that appeared on http://www.mybaycity.com It was an article about a talk given by Eric Jytha, a local historian in his area and he gave the talk to the 7th Michigan Cavalry Civil War Round Table.

The article noted that: “Many photographs taken by famed Civil War photographer Matthew Brady were staged…One particular shot, of five Union dead at Gettysburg, was passed off as taken at several battlefields…The photo, captioned ‘dead of the first day’ coouldn’t have been real because Brady didn’t get to Gettysburg until the fifth day, said Sailor Bob Boquette, of Saginaw Civil War Round table member who has studied photography of the era…Another commonly faked photo was entitled ‘rebel sharpshooter’ an image that was passed off as having been at ‘Devil’s Den’ and several other places, said Mr. Jytha.” The photo he is talking about used to be at the battlefield at Gettysburg. I saw it there years ago. I don’t know if it is still there or not. Maybe because it is a picture of a Confederate soldier it has been removed by now. After all, to be politically correct nowadays you must remove anything Southern or Confederate from all the battlefields, flags, monuments, etc. It never seems to occur to these social justice warriors that if you do that at all the “Civil War” battlefields you will have no reason for the battlefield any longer and you can just shut it down. Erasing and removing everything “Southern” from the battlefield removes the need for the battlefield doesn’t it?

By removing everything Southern from remembrance you have just cancelled the War of Northern Aggression and the supposed (not real) reason for it, slavery. You social justice warriors had best be careful. lest you remove the Deep State’s golden goose–the slavery issue–from remembrance!

It has been reported that many of the photos supposedly taken by Matthew Brady were actually taken by Alexander Gardner because Brady was supposedly losing his eyesight.

Another article on https://militaryhistorynow.com was posted on that site on 9/25/2015 and it observed: “They say that the first casualty of war is the truth. Case in point: Experts believe that the Civil War battlefield photographer Alexander Gardner physically arranged the corpses in this famous photo taken after the 1862 Battle of Antietam for dramatic effect… ” I can’t reproduce the photo here but most of you all will probably know the photo I am talking about.

The article continues: “Alexander Gardner’s famous picture ‘A Sharpshooter’s Last Sleep’ features a corpse that looks a lot like the body in another photo taken elsewhere on the battlefield. Did Garner move the corpse? U.S. Civil War photographers like Matthew Brady famously snapped hundreds of haunting images of the aftermath of the conflict’s many battles. Yet in a number of cases, such scenes were shamelessly manipulated, with cameramen often physically arranging objects, debris and even dead bodies within the frame to add to the scenes of devastation Such is believed to be the case with Alexander Gardner’s post-Gettysburg image ‘A Sharpshooter’s Last Sleep.’ The famous photo features a corpse strangely similar to one that appears in another shot taken on the same day entitled ‘Home of a Rebel Sharpshooter.’ Experts maintain that Gardner used the same fallen soldier for both pictures, reportedly dragging the body more than 40 yards between the two locations.”

Brady and his associates were one group the federal government did not seem to mind having on the battlefields with their cameras. That fact alone should tell you something. The feds knew Brady was going to give them the kind of photos they wanted out there for public consumption.

The Roots of Nullification

by Al Benson Jr.

Member, Board of Directors, Confederate Society of America

Nullification does not seem to be a popular subject with many who write about the Constitution. In preparation for this article I checked out several books in my library written by those who had dealt with the Constitution and with the early days of this country. In most cases I found that the term “nullification” was not even included in the index of the book, which means the author did not bother to deal with it.

The one book I did find that dealt with it in a meaningful way was one written by my friend, Dr. Archie P. Jones and published by American Vision http://www.AmericanVision.org This book is The Gateway to Liberty–The Constitutional Power of The Tenth Amendment and this book was published back in 2010. This is an informative book and I would recommend it to those who have an interest in the Tenth Amendment. You will learn from what Archie has to say.

He deals with nullification on pages 65-68 and deals with the Bill of Rights and the need for it on pages 108-110. I will give readers some of his commentary here in the hope that you may be interested in getting the book.

Archie writes: “The principle of nullification is essential to federalism, for without it, the state governments are largely defenseless against power-hungry, unscrupulous central government encroachments and usurpations. Nullification laws are laws enacted by a state legislature declaring unconstitutional ‘federal’ (central government) laws to be without authority in the state and rendering such laws inoperative in that state. Without the right of nullification, a state has only the influence it can exert through its elected representatives in the central government to restrain and oppose central government usurpation of the state’s power and authority.” And let’s be honest here–how many of our elected representatives in Sodom on the Potomac are really concerned with protecting the rights of the folks back home? Not nearly enough! Oh, there is a handful that are, but it is only a handful. The rest are busily trying to sell us out to the New World Order because that is where their true allegiance lies–not to the folks that elected them.

Archie continues: “Nullification is a form of interposition; it is a means by which the state’s civil government officials can protect the lives, persons, property and liberty of the people of their state against unconstitutional laws and actions emanating from the ‘federal’ or central government. By extension, if other states are persuaded to join in enacting and enforcing similar legislation, nullification protects the liberty and wellbeing of the people of the whole United States against unjust and unconstitutional laws promulgated by the central government. As a form of interposition, nullification is more than a right of a state’s civil government: it is a moral duty of a state’s civil government and its officials to protect the moral and constitutional liberty of that state’s people against injustice and illegality emanating from the central government…The most important institution of civil government for protecting our liberty in the complex system of civil government bequeathed to us in our Constitution is the government of each state…Obviously they intended the civil government which most affected the lives of Americans to be the state government, not the national government.”

Unfortunately, it has not worked out that way. Too often the federal government has enacted all manner of laws and executive decrees that do not pass constitutional muster and no one has objected to them–least of all our elected representatives!

Nullification, if enacted by the states will begin to shut down this process of our being forced to follow decrees and mandates that are clearly unconstitutional.

I have to note here also that the Kennedy Brothers, Ron and Donnie, have been advocating nullification in their recent books Dixie Rising–Rules for Rebels, and Be Ye Separate–Bible Belt Revival or Marxist Revolution.

The fact that several states are now seeking to enact nullification laws in response to federal tyranny shows that this is an idea whose time has come and the states had better start enacting nullification laws to protect their residents lest we end up becoming just another Communist dictatorship, ruled by a group with an unquenchable lust for power.

Nullification Efforts in Louisiana

by Al Benson Jr.

Member, Board of Directors, Confederate Society of America

It seems as if some folks here in Louisiana are beginning to wake up as to the necessity for nullification efforts here in Louisiana.

An article by Zach Parker appeared in the Ouachita Citizen for April 8th. Zach’s article stated: “Local law enforcement officials say they stand behind state Sen. Jay Morris’ legislation clearing citizens to carry a concealed weapon without a permit, though some expressed concern that firearm safety training still take place. Under Senate Bill 118, all persons over the age of 21 who are not convicted felons can carry a concealed weapon without obtaining a concealed carry permit. Morris, a Republican, characterized the purpose of SB 118 as simply confirming each citizen’s constitutional right to bear arms. Last week, the Tennessee Legislature joined 18 other states that have approved permit-less carry, or constitutional carry laws. ‘It’s time Louisiana joined the other 18 states which have passed constitutional carry,’ said Morris of Monroe. ‘This bill really shouldn’t be necessary as our right to bear arms is already established under the Second Amendment and any limitations on that right should be narrow.'”

Let me say at this point that the Ouachita Citizen is the only newspaper in this area that I will read consistently. Zach Parker is one of the few honest journalists I know and his editor seems to have a good grasp of what goes on in the world. Most other papers in this area I can recommend as high quality birdcage liner but that’s about it.

I am sure the federal overlords of federal overreach in Washington would not approve of Senator Morris’ bill. Let’s hope the state legislature here has the guts to support and pass it. However, there are other nullification efforts now going on here in Louisiana.

An article I received just this morning from JBS Action Alerts noted: “House Bill 118 titled the ‘Louisiana Firearm Protection Act is sponsored by Representative Larry Frieman and seven other representatives. If passed, it would be the strongest and most comprehensive gun control nullification bill in the country. HB118 gives a list of policies which might be contained in ‘federal acts, laws, executive orders, administrative orders, court orders, rules, and regulations that violate the U.S. Constitutions Second Amendment and Article 1 Section 11 of the Louisiana Constitution…Importantly, HB 118 nullifies both past and future unconstitutional firearms restrictions. Additionally, while the bill does not name any specific federal laws, the 1934 National Firearms Act and the 1968 Gun Control Act would effectively be included among the laws nullified.” This should be a bill that every sincere person in Louisiana who is not a radical gun control-oriented leftist could support.

Let us hope and pray that some “suits from Washington” do not show up in Baton Rouge with money or promises in an attempt to subvert or weaken this legislation. Such would not surprise me. We need to lean on our legislators here to get them to support these bills. We need to make it clear to them that if they vote to diminish or do away with our Second Amendment rights then they will be gone in the next election.

Thankfully, nullification efforts are under way here in Louisiana. If nullification efforts do not proceed across this country we will end up living is what amounts to a federal dictatorship sponsored by the Deep State and the creatures that thrive in the Washington Swamp.

Second Amendment Nullification

by Al Benson Jr.

Member, Board of Directors, Confederate Society of America

It would seem that the leadership in several states is beginning to recognize the fact that state legislatures have the duty to nullify unconstitutional federal overreach regulations in their respective states. All I can say is that, after seeing the direction the Harris/Biden administration is headed in, it is about time.

An article by Jack Phillips in the April 7th issue of the Epoch Times has noted: “Arizona Gov. Doug Ducey signed legislation on April 6 that would prohibit police and sheriffs in the state from enforcing new federal gun laws that may violate the Constitution’s Second Amendment. Proponents of the bill have argued that it would ensure the rights of gun owners are protected from what they have described as potential overreach by the federal government…” Those who are critical of the bill claim it will hamper cooperation between state and federal officials. Seeing that the feds go into various states and try to force their edicts on state governments, one might question the need for such “cooperation.”

Gun control zealots tried to pressure the governor into vetoing this measure. I suppose their next attempt to take away people’s Second Amendment rights in Arizona will be to issue some sort of recall petition to remove the governor.

In similar legislation, this time in Tennessee, Governor Bill Lee has signed a “constitutional carry bill, also called a “permitless carry bill” into law and the law will go into effect on July 1st. Governor Lee said “I signed constitutional carry today because it shouldn’t be hard for law-abiding Tennesseans to exercise their Second Amendment rights. Thank you members of the General Assembly and NRA for helping get this done.”

And, an article on the New American website just recently noted that “The Governor of Iowa said “Today I signed legislation that protects the 2nd Amendment rights of Iowa’s law-abiding citizens. We will never be able to outlaw or prevent every singled bad actor from getting a gun, but what we can do is to ensure (that) law-abiding citizens have full access to their constitutional rights.” Thus Iowa becomes the 19th state to push back against the Harris/Biden Regimes agenda to disarm honest Americans. Harris/Biden are not really concerned about the criminals among us–they just want to take our guns. that way we can’t defend ourselves from Black Lives Matter or Antifa. Are you beginning to get the picture yet???

There are now 19 states that allow their citizens to exercise the rights guaranteed to them by the Second amendment without asking permission from their state governments first Mark Olivia the director of public affairs at the National Shooting Sports Foundation has said: “Your permit is your Second Amendment right. The idea of having to get a permit to be able to exercise your Second Amendment right t keep and bear arms is antithetical to what your rights are as an American at birth.”

The New American article observes that “In Iowa ,legislators and the governor are posing the solution to the problem of governmental overreach from Washington: passing a law that directly and emphatically opposes the federal tyranny when it comes to gun control.

Of the 19 states that are nullifying federal gun control overreach, I notice that Louisiana is not among them. The Democrat governor here will probably not try to do anything that Biden/Harris do not want him to do. Therefore, it will be up to the state legislature here to resoundingly pass nullification bills that will be aimed at federal overreach and their efforts will have to be strong enough to over-ride his vetoes because he will probably try to veto anything Harris/Biden doesn’t want.

Nullification is an idea whose time has arrived in an era when federal overreach has become an epidemic and the Second Amendment is not the only area that needs to be addressed.

Taking a Stand

by Al Benson Jr.

Member, Board of Directors, Confederate Society of America

April is Confederate History Month and we need to proclaim that without hesitation or apology. When leftist thugs howl about the South seceding so she could keep all her slaves we need to start asking them about those slave states that remained part of the Union all the way up until the 13th Amendment was enacted, months after “honest” Abe was dead and gone. Having never learned any real history most of them won’t know anything about that. You will need to remind them–not that it will shut them up–but it might slow them down a bit if someone has an accurate answer to their tomfoolishness.

Ray H. Shores had an informative article in the recent issue of The Southern Defender. He raised some good points both from a Christian and Southern perspective. He talked about duty calling us and wondered if we would answer. He wrote: “Now more than ever before, duty calls us to take a public stand for Liberty, which is more than just freedom. It’s freedom tied to Biblical principles, where the Founders of the United States and Confederate States took a public stand.”

And he continued: “It’s easy to say that we’ll fight when the going really gets rough–when the goons come for the guns, perhaps. But, what if the goons don’t come for the guns? What if they just make it a crime to use them without a permit–a permit that is rarely approved. We would be wise to remember that the Apostle Peter told Jesus he would stand up to the goons when the going got rough. Later, he cried tears of regret because he failed. Anybody can brag about things he or she will do tomorrow, but brave men and women are taking a stand now.” I have often heard people brag that “They will only get my gun when they pry it from my cold, dead hands.” And I have often wondered how many of those that loudly make this brag will be the first to line up and turn their guns in if push ever comes to shove. Bragging and doing ain’t necessarily the same animal.

At any rate,. Ray gave us a list of things most of us can work at doing right now that may help to forestall the enemies of Christian liberty we are all faced with today. I won’t list them all here but I will give you some of them–the ones that jumped out at me as I read them.

  1. Pray for courage and protection during these times when we confront determined anti-liberty, pro-Communist foes.
  2. In your front yard, on the tallest flagpoles you can afford, raise one or two flags of liberty…This action will embolden your children, your neighbors, and even yourself. Flags are a rallying point, and the sight of them builds courage and reminds the troops of the reason they are fighting…
  3. Only support politicians that are active open champions of the ‘Original Intent’ of the U.S. Constitution and States Rights. Stop supporting weaklings, appeasers and con-men.
  4. Study your Bible and work to repent of real sins instead of sins invented by heretics and Communists, such as the ‘sins” of owning too much property, having too much money, and associating with people of your own choosing. Claim the gender that God gave you at birth. Don’t support the ‘Woke Church’ and churches that adhere to the Communist-created ‘Critical Race Theory’.
  5. Work to purify your mind through learning, and avoid corrupting influences, such as perverted and Communist-inspired television programs…
  6. Work to purify the hearts and minds of your children. Try to avoid putting them into the clutches of Marxist-minded teachers or into schools led by conformists and people who fear the news media more than they love truth and liberty.
  7. Patronize pro-Liberty businesses and websites. Use web browsers, social media and e-mail hosts that are not joined at the hip with the Federal government. Some of the Liberty flags Ray mentioned earlier are The Betsy Ross flag, The Bonnie Blue flag, The Confederate Battle flag, the Confederate First National flag, the Gadsden flag. I did articles about three of these flags awhile back on my https://thecopperhead.blogspot.com site–a site that has been seriously shadow-banned because I refuse to be politically correct. Hopefully this brief article will encourage some of you to take note of and celebrate Confederate History Month.

Nullification is Spreading

by Al Benson Jr.

Member, Board of Directors, Confederate Society of America

Recently I did an article on nullification in Arkansas. As things in this country continue to deteriorate under the Harris/Biden Regime more states are beginning to deal with the process of nullification as noted in the Constitution.

Ron Kennedy, in his informative book Be Ye Separate–Bible Belt Revival Or Marxist Revolution has noted, on pages 62-63 that: “The founding fathers crafted a federal system for a Constitutionally limited Republic of Sovereign States. They understood that no word, sentence, clause, or amendment in the Constitution was self-enforcing. They understood that a free government required moral people. They also understood that, under their system of federalism, the Sovereign States would be able to enforce the Constitutional limitations on the federal government.” This is what nullification was all about–preventing the federal government from going beyond the bounds of what the Constitution allowed. This is something the Feds dearly love to do–make up laws as they go along that will allow them to implement their neo-Marxist agendas. Nullification properly combats this and more states seem to finally be waking up to this.

In Texas, four state legislators have introduced HB1215 (the Texas State Sovereignty Act). If passed this will create in Texas the situation that will enable that state to “review federal actions that challenge the sovereignty of the state and the people for the purpose of determining if the federal action is unconstitutional.” Should any federal act fall into that category the legislators in Texas will then seek nullification from the state’s governor and a majority in both houses of the state government.

The legislature in South Dakota is also considering a bill similar to the one in Texas. And, in Wyoming there is a “Second Amendment Preservation Act” that should nullify federal gun control edicts. Similar nullification bills to protect the Second Amendment have been proposed in Alabama, Missouri, Ohio, and West Virginia. Regarding the Second Amendment, nullification measures have already been enacted in Alaska, Idaho, and Kansas.

And it has been reported that similar proposals are being debated and discussed in the legislatures of Arizona, Arkansas, Mississippi, Montana, Nebraska, Oklahoma, South Carolina and Tennessee. It seems as if many states in the South and West are beginning to grasp the importance of nullification in their honest desire to combat federal overreach. I wonder, at this point, where is Louisiana with its Democratic governor who seems more than willing to go along with any Democratic federal overreach proposed by the current Regime? The state legislature here in Louisiana needs to start looking at the nullification process for this state. So far they have avoided this issue which they should begin to address.

If continued federal overreach is allowed we will, in effect, become just another Marxist dictatorship. That would greatly please the Deep State in Washington but it will be the death knell for our God-given liberties everywhere else. People should start contacting their state legislators and letting them know they want them to start implementing the nullification process in their states.

Nullification in Arkansas

by Al Benson Jr.

Member, Board of Directors, Confederate Society of America

Just read an article on The Epoch Times web site about the state senate in Arkansas passing a bill banning the enforcement of federal gun control laws.

The article noted that: “The state senate voted this week to block federal law enforcement officials enforcing certain gun laws and regulations, sending the bill to the state House in the midst of congressional gun-control proposals. the Senate voted 28- 7 to approve the measure, which will then be sent to the House. Arkansas’ Legislature is overwhelmingly Republican…the measure will prohibit any law enforcement agencies in Arkansas from cooperating with federal officials to enforce federal gun laws that go in conflict with the rights provided in the Arkansas Constitution, according to Arkansas Online. Some state lawmakers expressed a worry that President Joe Biden would ramp up gun-control measures.”

It’s no secret that Biden and his Marxist vice-president plan to gut the Second Amendment immediately if not sooner, whichever they can get away with. And you can take it to the bank that if the Second Amendment goes by the boards then the other nine original amendments in the Bill of Rights won’t be far behind it. That’s the federal Deep State plan. Trump protected the Second Amendment. Harris/Biden plan to do away with it. Oh, they will claim otherwise, but anyone with a brain knows where they are headed. Once they gut the Second Amendment and have the guns who is to prevent them from doing whatever they darn well please?

What the state of Arkansas is doing with this bill in nullifying unconstitutional federal actions. This is something more and more states need to start doing. Nullification in this country is something that has a long history.

Ron Kennedy, in his new informative little book Be Ye Separate–Bible Belt Revival or Marxist Revolution comments on nullification. On page 29 he observes: “We the people must again reclaim the right to control our state and local communities. We can use that control to nullify anti-Christian acts of the federal government and its bureaucratic Deep State–just like the people of Wisconsin who boldly nullified the Constitutional requirements to return runaway slaves in 1859 As will be explained, America’s founding fathers protected this ability (state nullification etc.) when they crafted the original Constitution…The idea of states having power to nullify laws in the United States goes back to colonial days.” More on Ron’s new book (Xulon Press http://www.xulonpress.com) in future articles.

There is more about state nullification in Ron Kennedy’s book Dixie Rising–Rules for Rebels (Shotwell Publishing, P O Box 2592, Columbia, South Carolina 29202) Ron tells us, on page 48, that “The bottom line is simple: Without real states’ rights, inclusive of the rights of state nullification and secession, we the people are helpless when facing an all-powerful tyrannical Federal Empire. But by passing our proposed constitutional amendment acknowledging the rights of nullification and secession, we the people at the local level will have the power to control ‘our’ federal government.” You need to read Dixie Rising.

State nullification is an idea whose time has come–or rather has come back. Other states are working at passing nullification laws in certain areas, notably Texas and a couple other Western states.
