2014 in review

The WordPress.com stats helper monkeys prepared a 2014 annual report for this blog.

Here's an excerpt:

The concert hall at the Sydney Opera House holds 2,700 people. This blog was viewed about 35,000 times in 2014. If it were a concert at Sydney Opera House, it would take about 13 sold-out performances for that many people to see it.

The Republican Party Ain’t Your Friend (and neither are the Democrats)

by Al Benson Jr.

Recently I saw an article by Erick Erickson on http://www.redstate.com which was entitled President Hates America.. I can’t disagree with the title. It’s correct–President Obama does not like the United States. Erickson noted that: “The Obamas see the United States as a corrupt and bullying power that needs to be humbled.” He’s correct, the President does not like this country. He despises it and its people, not because it’s corrupt and bullying, but rather because it has not yet conformed to the socialist model he seeks to introduce here. There is resistance to that, and what he really hates is that resistance. Obama has a vision of and for America that is diametrically opposed to what some of our founders wanted for us. Obama and Patrick Henry would be at absolute opposite ends of the spectrum. Obama and Alexander Hamilton might be another matter.

Obama is not opposed to America because of its corruption and bullying–his administration has done enough of both to last for decades if they never did anything else–and the people at the top who are responsible for all the corruption and bullying are both Democrats and Republicans, establishment types who are making money out of all they are doing, while trying to push the country in the direction of the New World Order. Both political parties are top-heavy with those people.

Erickson concluded his article with: “We are less safe at home and abroad as a result. But the President’s golf game goes uninterrupted and his congress remains neutered and in fear of being disliked.” Here we don’t quite see eye to eye. He’s right about us being less safe at home and abroad, and Obama’s golf game does seem to go on forever, with us picking up the tab for it all, but Congress is not neutered or afraid of being unpopular (except maybe at election time). Otherwise, they couldn’t care less what we think of them. It couldn’t be any worse than what they think of us. We continue to elect them, naively thinking they will go to Washington to speak up for us, when actually, they go to promote the corruption Obama professes so much concern about. In truth, the Congress, at least most of it, both Democrats and Republicans, are in complete agreement with where Obama wants to take the country–down the road to some form of socialism. This doesn’t bother Congress in the least. They will still continue to collect their fat cat salaries for pretending to legislate even though Obama seeks to rule by Federal edict and they’ll pretend to complain about it loudly, if ineffectively. it’s all an expensive game, with the always-lucky taxpayer picking up the tab.

Ahh, but now that the Republicans have seized control of Congress all that will change, right? Wrong! Very little will change because, if the truth be known, the Republican agenda is quite similar to Obama’s agenda. After all, they both get their marching orders from the same people, so why should anything really change except enough of the meaningless rhetoric to fool the voting populace? For the most part, the Republican Congress with talk conservative and vote socialist.

In an article on http://www.godfatherpolitics.com J. Matt Barber stated: “I am no longer a Republican. John Boehner, Mitch McConnell and their Democrat-lite RINO Republican establishment have seen to that. They have betrayed their own constituents…Last month Republicans were elected by ‘We the people’ in an unprecedented landslide-in a Democratic Party bloodbath–with clear marching orders. They were given one task and one task alone. Stop Barack Obama. They have failed both miserably and willfully.”

Let’s call a spade a spade. They failed willfully because Obama’s agenda is very little different than their own. Look at it logically. If the same clique controls both parties, then their agenda will, to one extent or another, be reflected in the actions of both parties. One may say or do it a little differently than the other, but the end result will be the same. We don’t really have two different and distinct political parties in this country with different worldviews. We have, in effect, two branches of the same New World Order group, saying somewhat different things to fool the public, but both, in reality, working for the same agenda. The Council on Foreign Relations/Trilateral Commission clique controls both parties, and both parties do what this clique wants them to do. There may be a handful of genuinely conservative Republican congressmen out there, but there are not enough of them to overcome the ones that are either New World Order types or who are willing to go along to get along so they can stay in office and cash in on the goodies.

Others seem to have also discerned the Republican game and realize how it is being played. Dr. Clyde Wilson, in an article in Chronicles for November, 2014, has perfectly described how the Republican Party plays the “conservative” game while doing socialist good deeds.

Dr. Wilson states: “Another fact: With the exception of Reagan’s contribution to winning the Cold War, the entire history of the Republican Party in the 20th century has been a grotesque betrayal–a lack of effective opposition to any leftist and Democratic initiative. The Republican Party has won office claiming opposition and immediately abetted and institutionalized whatever revolution has been imposed…When conservative Christians became politically active, giving great hope to many, they, too, were swiftly invited into the party and neutralized. For some time now the party has rested on the votes of conservative Christians and Southerners. It has never had any intention of giving these voters anything, never has given them anything, and never will give them anything.” He also noted that, should a genuine conservative presidential candidate emerge from among the Republicans in 2016, he greatest opposition will come from the leadership of his own party. This is what happened to Ron Paul in 2012. And it is all entirely in keeping with the real origins of the Republican Party, which were clearly socialist. Again, I would direct you to Donnie Kennedy’s and my book Lincoln’s Marxists. The Republican Party needs to be exposed for the socialism-enabling fraud that it really is.

And then, Christian and conservative voters need to start dealing with the question of “Where do we go from here?”

Alan Stang, Donnie Kennedy, and I were right about the Republican Party

By Al Benson Jr.

Back in early 2008, author and researcher Alan Stang wrote an article entitled The Republican Party–Red From the Start. Mr. Stang provided much documentation in this and other articles showing where the Republican Party was really coming from and what its origins were and, folks, let me tell you, those origins weren’t over on the “far right.”

In that article, Alan reviewed the first edition of Donnie Kennedy’s and my book Lincoln’s Marxists, and he made the statement “You really need to read this book.” Unfortunately, Alan passed away in 2010, I think it was, and his research and writing skills are sorely missed. He used to dig up material that the regular media people wouldn’t touch with a ten-foot pole, material they most studiously avoided, and he dealt with it for his audience, which seems to have been considerable. Years earlier, I had read his classic work It’s Very Simple—the true story of Civil Rights. You might check Amazon.com to see if it’s still around. Alan bared all the facts the media and the “civil rights’ crowd didn’t want you to know.

Many people might be naively tempted to think Alan, Donnie, and I are way off in our view of the Republican Party. Unfortunately, the facts show otherwise. Donnie and I dealt somewhat with the early Republican Party in our book, and a few years back, I also did an article entitled The Republican Party—There are no conservative roots there. I checked to see if it was still on the Internet and the only place I can find it right now is on http://www.thisbloodlessliberty.com It was posted there on December 8, 2012. You might also check a somewhat related article on http://www.confederateamericanpride.com called The Mendacious Yankee Culture. You might ask where I am going with all this history. You may have been raised in a political environment where the Republican Party was touted as the party of “small government.” Let me tell you, nothing could be further from the truth.

In our most recent charade (pardon me, I meant election) the Republicans picked up several seats in the Senate and even some in the House. Gullible Americans were convinced, and still are, that now the country will turn around and move to the right, to a more conservative position. They feel that the Republican leadership in Congress will now move to do battle with Obama and seek to route his egregious socialism. What a laugh! And the laugh is on us, folks, the American electorate has been snookered again—the seventh time since 1980, actually the ninth time if you add Obama’s “transparency” into the mix—and you might just as well, because there is precious little difference between the two parties save for the rhetoric. Their agendas are identical.

Pastor Chuck Baldwin had an article published on the Internet today (Dec 18, 2014) entitled Are You Mad Yet? It dealt with the recent Republican victory in the elections and went on to note that the Republican Party is already working in the Congress to betray its constituents and they’re not even waiting for the new year to do it. They are working overtime to give Comrade Obama what he wants while he still has a majority in the Senate.

Pastor Baldwin quoted long-time Republican activist, Mike Scruggs, when he wrote, “I have been a Republican County Chairman in both North Carolina and Alabama. I have served countless hard-working hours as a volunteer for Republican candidates. I am therefore deeply grieved that the Republican Party leadership in both the U.S. House of Representatives and the U.S. Senate has seen fit to betray the principles and values of a substantial majority of Republican voters, and the majority of the American people. This last week witnessed both the House and Senate passing budget bills that essentially gave Obama’s unlawful amnesty for five million illegal immigrant workers an effective pass…Our liberty and freedom are being traded for gold in the form of huge special interest political campaign donations…According to the Heritage Foundation, the average unlawful immigrant household receives $14,387 more in government services and benefits paid than taxes paid. This will almost double with amnesty, because of more benefits. This is essentially a taxpayer subsidy to businesses using illegal immigrant labor… What kind of GOP leadership wants more of these injustices to American workers and taxpayers? Speaker of the House John Boehner did not give a pass to Obama’s amnesty and plans to double illegal immigrant workers because he feared being blamed for a government shutdown. He wants amnesty so that establishment Republicans can continue to receive huge donations from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and other cheap labor lobbying associations.” So, when it comes right down to it, with the Republicans just like the Democrats, it’s all about money and power and the average voter be damned. He doesn’t count with either party except to have to pay for the mess they make.

An interesting question was asked by Pastor Baldwin: “When will the U.S. electorate awaken to the fact that we do not have two parties in Washington, D.C.? And when will conservative Republicans awaken to the fact that their party in D.C. does NOT represent them—and has no intentions of representing them? At the leadership level, both Democrats and Republicans represent big money, globalist agendas. Neither party cares a hoot in hades about their constituents—much less liberty and constitutional government. The toll that amnesty is going to take on this republic will be horrific. No, more than that, it will forever change the future of our country. And it won’t take long…I’m talking about escalating crime rates. I’m talking about federally-mandated expulsion of America’s historic Christian culture. I’m talking about rising unemployment for American citizens—especially African Americans…That African Americans will be among the hardest hit by the invasion of illegals is the dirty little secret that Democrat Party leaders are not telling their constituents…”

Pastor Baldwin urges those who love liberty in the Republican Party to secede from it and “join the millions of independents who got mad and left years ago.” He refers to our current system as the “two-party duopoly” that is killing the life and liberty of this country. He’s right, and you know what, with their globalist mindset they love every minute of it! Their destruction of this country is a planned destruction. They’re not merely stupid or ignorant—they know what they are doing. All they have to do is to make sure the public never figures it out.

But some of the public IS beginning to figure it out. I got an email from a man today that has figured out what’s going on, and he explains it in very plain language. He states: “There is no political party that represents the people. Those days are long over—a mere footnote in history. We may elect our reps to the Congress, but once there, the special interest parasites quickly buy them out—though not before the Establishment “heads” of each party call them in and tell them ‘this is how we do business here.’ The tiny few in D.C. who actually stand for constitutional parameters are culled out and discredited by the establishment elites.” Now you know what happened to Ron Paul in 2012. He was too honest. He wouldn’t play the game so he had to go, and they made sure he did—any way they had to. I have often wondered that, if by some fluke he had managed to win the election, would he have met with some sort of “accident” that would have incapacitated him? Having the Republican nomination stolen from him may well have saved his life.

In speaking of our “elected representatives” the email sender noted: “They throw out the sound-bytes they knew we want to hear, then cast a vote that is the very antithesis of their words. Their loyalty is not to the people nor their oath—they are lords and nobles to their NWO (New World Order) handlers who provide them money, power, and control in exchange for using their elected post to dismantle the idea of America.” Unfortunately, this is a very apt description of what we send to Washington. Does anyone wonder why the national opinion of Congress is literally in the single digits? Even the election changed nothing of real importance. No matter which party is “in power” it will be business as usual in Washington, but then, that trend took a major step forward with the election of Lincoln and the Republican triumph in the War of Northern Aggression.

Some of the Republican congressmen today may be a bit more suave than old Thad Stevens or Ben Wade were, but not all. We still have John McCain and when he loses his cool, suave he ain’t.

So don’t look for any help from the Republican Establishment in returning the country to where it should be. They ain’t having any of that—it’s not part of the New World Order agenda. A good place to start might be in prayer to the Lord, asking Him to retard the progress of the One World Government crowd and to confuse their efforts. He can do that. If enough of us repent of our sins and pray that way, He might be pleased to hear us. That doesn’t mean we don’t do anything else, but it means that we start with prayer.

“Critical Theory” and Confederate Heritage–Part Two

by Al Benson Jr.

Stop and analyze what has just been said in the first installment in light of your Confederate and Southern history, in light of your Southern culture, in light of the Christian faith most of us embrace, which truly recognizes the eternal truth that Jesus Christ IS the way, the truth, and the life, and that no man or woman gets to God the Father except through Him. All of this represents the “old” thinking and so it has to be done away with–and the Marxist Critical Theorists are working overtime at that, while most Christians slumber on–totally unaware.

Those people realize, and have for generations now, that you can’t do all this in one fell swoop–that shocks too many people. And so they work on it gradually–the classic Fabian approach–a street name changed in this town, or several street names, or a Confederate soldier’s statue removed from the town square because it supposedly represents “racism” or a Confederate monument desecrated, as was done awhile back in Selma, Alabama, with a concerted effort being made to ensure the monument would not be rebuilt. In this particular case in Selma, it didn’t work, thanks be to God, and a group of people there fought back against the (local) Marxists that were trying to destroy their culture. They went to court with solid evidence on their side and they won. Unfortunately, it doesn’t always work out that way.

The end result, if people are unaware and allow this brand of Marxism to proceed, is that, eventually, every vestige of your old Christian and Southern culture will be totally removed from the town you live in. You can see the not-so-subtle beginnings of this now in Kennesaw, Georgia if you follow the news on the Internet.

If this is unresisted, your kids will walk down Malcolm X Boulevard or W.E.B. DuBois Avenue on their way to Karl Marx Middle School–if you are still naive enough to believe your kids can really get an education in these institutions we charitably refer to as public schools. Actually, what they really are is government schools. Any sign of your old real history and heritage will be gradually and totally removed and the “history” your kids will imbibe in their “social studies” classes at Karl Marx Middle School will carefully omit any mention of anything Christian or Confederate or Southern–except for the slavery issue. And this will be summarily dragged out from time to time to make sure you remain on your “stool of everlasting repentance.” “Teaching moments” in these schools will make sure your kids are ashamed of their “white privilege.” The slavery issue, like the public school, is one of the most sacred of sacred cows, and the Critical Theorists can use it most forcefully in the destruction of your Christian culture if you don’t learn the truth and resist.

And if you still think this is all just spontaneous and unrelated events from place to place, having no connection with anything else that is going on, then I have a bridge in Tucson, Arizona that reaches all the way across the desert to Phoenix–all made with gold bricks, that I’d love to sell you at bargain basement rates.

This is all Marxist Critical Theory, in living color, and its intent has always been, as now, the total destruction of our faith and culture. It is not happening by accident. It might be an interesting exercise sometime to check out various cities where such hooliganism is going on and notice the various “civil rights” groups involved in different places. How many Southern towns have these problems where the NAACP is “called in” or how many towns are threatened by the possible presence of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference or by an appearance by Rev. Je$$e Jackson or “Rev” Al Sharpton? Folks, most of this stuff is orchestrated and done in such a way as to intimidate any potential opposition. And of course the prostitute press we foolishly continue to refer to as the “news” media plays right along with it. That’s what they’re paid for. These are the same people who refuse to see any problems with Comrade Obama’s “birth certificate” or his social security number from a state he never lived in. The favorite mantra of the “news” media is “nothing to see here, folks, just move along,” unless it happens to be a story about ‘white privilege’ and then it’s dealt with ad nauseam.

If we are going to protect our faith and our culture we have got to start to realize who our real enemies are–and it ain’t just some of the local black folks, who have been fed the same hogwash we have–most of them are pawns in the game, cannon fodder for the Marxists, who, in truth, care no more about black people than Lincoln did. The Marxists behind the people in the streets are some of those we need to start checking out and exposing, and then we need to start checking out the people behind them, because there are people behind them–the ones that pay for all the planned mayhem and culture destruction. We need to start checking out and exposing their political connections and what groups they belong to.

There are some organizations that try to do this, to their credit, but Southern Christians as a whole need to start educating themselves as to who these Marxists and their puppet masters are and what their real intent is. Helping local blacks that have, in some instances, been discriminated against has nothing to do with their real agenda. That’s all a convenient cover for their real program for the total destruction of Christian culture and Confederate heritage in the South–and once they have that accomplished here, then they will play the same game in other areas of the country. And it might be easier for them in other areas which have less Christian influence than there is in the South. We are somewhat of a stumbling block to those people. Once they shut us down it will get easier for them, so they hope.

Never forget–their primary aim is to destroy Christian culture and faith in America. We need to start realizing what their game is and, as the Lord enables, we need to expose and oppose what they do. “Contending for the faith once delivered to the saints” is still vitally important in our day.

Recently I read an informative article on the Accuracy in Academia web site, written by William Lind back in February of 2000. It was entitled The Origins of Political Correctness. For anyone wanting more background on Political Correctness and its originators it would be worth checking out.

“Critical Theory” and Confederate Heritage

by Al Benson Jr.

There are many who view, with continuing alarm, the blatant and relentless attacks on Confederate and Southern history, heritage and symbols. They can’t seem to fathom why this or that group seems to hate Confederate flags, symbols, and heritage so much. They are not “racists” or hate-mongers. All they want is to be able to enjoy their culture and history and they cant figure out why some groups are so opposed to letting them do that.

They fail to recognize that there is a coordinated rationale behind all these attacks on the South. It is not just a random “liberal” group here or there that happens to not approve of Confederate symbols locally–in fact there is nothing random about any of it. It is all part and parcel of what we know as Marxist Critical Theory.

It is a major part of what we refer to as Cultural Marxism–and a major part of the Cultural Marxist agenda is the planned cultural destruction of anything even remotely perceived as Christian, Confederate, or Southern.

An article I recently read on http://www.discoverthenetworks.org dealt with this. It noted that Political Correctness, also a major part of Cultural Marxism, is not something to be taken lightly. Many folks sniff at it and regard it as a minor annoyance. It is much more serious and insidious than that. The article observed that: “…Political Correctness is deadly serious in its aims, seeking to impose a uniformity of thought and behavior on all Americans. It is therefore totalitarian in nature. It’s roots lie in a version of Marxism, which sees culture, rather than the economy, as the site of class struggle.” These folks have taken Marxism to a new level and we need to be aware of that.

The article noted that Italian Marxist Antonio Gramsci and Hungarian Marxist Georg Lukacs were the two that contributed most significantly to Cultural Marxism. Gramsci believed that a “new Communist man” had to be created and it had to be done via a changed culture, and only then would real political revolution be possible. And Lukacs felt that for this new culture to emerge, the old culture had to be destroyed. He said: “I saw the revolutionary destruction of society as the one and only solution to the cultural contradictions of the epoch…Such a worldwide overturning of values cannot take place without the annihilation of the old values and the creation of new ones by the revolutionaries.” Do you realize that the “old culture” they are working and planning to annihilate is ours? Maybe we should stop and reflect on that for a moment. Many Christians in America will shake their heads and say “well, that will never happen here.” I’m sure there were people in Germany and Russia before Hitler and Stalin who thought the same thing. In this country we now have Obama. You think he’s not tirelessly working to change the culture–to tear down what we have had in the past and to replace it with “Gay marriage, more illegal immigrants, the replacement of the rule of law with the concept of rule by Executive Decree? Mr. Obama is the living personification of Marxist “Critical Theory” in action.

The Discover the Networks article stated, quite plainly, that: “Critical Theory was essentially destructive criticism of the main elements of Western culture, including Christianity, capitalism, the family…morality, tradition, sexual restraint, loyalty, patriotism, nationalism, heredity, ethnocentrism,…Critical Theorists recognized that traditional beliefs and existing social structure would have to be destroyed and then replaced with a ‘new thinking’ that would become as much a part of the elementary consciousness as the old one had been.” Ever wonder why “your” public schools do what they do regarding your culture? Look no further than “Critical Theory.”

To be continued.

National Socialism (Fascism) “Based On Marx”

by Al Benson Jr.

A few weeks back I did an article dealing with the fact that fascism is not “right wing” as we have been informed that it is. But rather it is firmly over there on the left side of the political spectrum, right next to its “kissin’ cousin”, communism.

In all my growing up years and into my early years in political activism I can remember supposedly well-informed people emphasizing to me that Hitler was a “right wing fascist” which was, in its own way, just as bad or worse than a communist. I do not doubt that fascism is as bad as communism, but as far as it being on “the right” I have learned better and I am convined that that entire scenario was dreamed up to make the folks on the right look bad. Many of those folks that yarned about fascism being on the right sort of looked down their well-informed noses at me because I was politically on the right, and was, therefore, in their estimation, courting fascism. These folks had no problem being a wee-bit soft on communism, but oh, how they hated fascism. All I can say is that some of the “well-informed” ain’t so well informed as they think they are.

Years ago I heard a lecturer from the John Birch Society give a speech in which he explained the political spectrum–from left to right. He explained, quite plainly, that when it came to the political spectrum fascism (total government) was right over there on the left with communism (total government). He was the only person I heard say that for years, but now it seems that more are awakening to this fact.

A recent article on LewRockwell.com by Daniel Hannan very succinctly pointed all this out. His article originally appeared in The Telegraph in England. Hannan noted that before Hitler’s invasion of Russia, his henchman, Josef Goebbels “looked forward to the new order that the Nazis would impose on a conquered Russia. There would be no come-back, he wrote, for capitalists nor priests nor Tzars. Rather, in the place of a debased Jewish Bolshevism, the Wehrmacht would deliver…real socialism. Goebbels never doubted that he was a socialist. He understood Nazism to be a better and more plausible form of socialism than that propagated by Lenin.”

Hannan noted that, in the West, the cultural victory of the leftists has been so smotheringly pervasive that merely to hear such statements gets most people shook up. They literally, and politically, just can’t deal with that. It goes against all they were taught in school and so it must be wrong–but it isn’t.

And even Hitler, himself, admitted it wasn’t. Hannan stated that: “Hitler told Hermann Rauschning, a Prussian who briefly worked for the Nazis before rejecting them and fleeing the country, that he admired much of the thinking of the revolutionaries he had known as a young man; but he felt they had been talkers and not doers. ‘I have put into practice what these peddlers and pen pushers have timidly begun,’ he boasted, adding that ‘the whole of National Socialism was based on Marx.’

Now there’s a chunk of Red meat for the progressives to chew on! Hannan said that when such statements are made it “elicits an almost berserk reaction from people who think of themselves as progressives and see anti-fascism as part of their ideology.” In other words, these folks are doubleminded (and therefore “unstable in all their ways”)–they want it both ways. They just can’t stand the thought that their “arch enemy” fascism has the same root as their vaunted “progressivism.” Just two peas in the same socialist pod–and it is the same pod. It’s almost laughable.

The communists, socialists, and progressives should be made to march through the streets carrying signs that say We have met the fascists–and they are us.

The Yankee/Marxist Mindset—alive and well among Lincoln’s military

By Al Benson Jr.
How many have followed the news in recent months, noting the contemptuous comments by those in the Obama Regime regarding the average American? Those people look down their long, Marxist noses at us with utter contempt. They have no use whatever for us except to use us as the cash cow to fund their efforts to destroy our faith and culture. They use us to pay for our own destruction. And we are supposed to be too stupid to know what’s going on. Unfortunately, thanks to what has passed for education in this country in the last 100 years, they are often right. However, after the last six “transparent” years of thinly-disguised fascism/Marxism some people are finally beginning to wake up, much to the chagrin of our current ruling elite. After all, you can only spit in people’s faces for so long while telling them it is dew, before some of them wise up.

The recent run-off election here in Louisiana showed that some folks have wised up. Liberal (socialist) Landrieu was finally sent packing after six years as an Obama clone that should have shamed anyone but an outright Marxist. Now we have to watch the man that unseated her to make sure he does what he claims he will do, and let him know we will be watching him if he doesn’t.

Unfortunately, this political (and military) contempt at the national level for ordinary people is not something that is new. It has not only been around since FDR, which many naïve (and some otherwise) people tell us is when our national problems really started. Anyone who has read any of my recent articles pertaining to the Constitution and the weakness of the checks and balances system realizes that our problems began long before FDR—not that he didn’t mightily contribute to those problems—but he was not the originator.

This elitist attitude toward the ordinary man was especially prevalent during and after the War of Northern Aggression. In an article by Thomas DiLorenzo that appeared on LewRockwell.com for December 4th Professor DiLorenzo noted the attitude of General William Tecumseh Sherman toward the civilian population of the South, and toward South Carolinians in particular.

Dr. DiLorenzo observed: “In a January 31, 1864 letter to Major R. M. Sawyer, Sherman explained the reason why he hated the South in general, and South Carolina in particular, so much. The war, he said, ‘was the result of a false political doctrine that any and every people have a right to self-government’.” Why how dare these insignificant South Carolinians think they had a right to self-government! Didn’t they realize that all they existed for was to serve the mighty federal Leviathan that reigned in Washington under “King Lincoln”? Why else would they even want to exist?

One of Sherman’s subordinate officers, a sterling individual named George W. Nichols, got a book published about his outstanding exploits in the War. He described South Carolinians as “the scum, the lower dregs of civilization” who are “not Americans; they are merely South Carolinians.” And General Carl Schurz noted that the average Yankee soldier looked at South Carolina as “deserving of special punishment.” Interpreted into real English that meant that the Yankee/Marxist military leadership from Sherman on down were willing to let their soldiers burn, rape, plunder and pillage in South Carolina while doing little to restrain them. After all, these South Carolina folks had to be taught a lesson—you don’t defy Yankee/Marxist authority and get away with it. With generals like Schurz on board you can bet that major appropriation of Southern property was near the top of the agenda. Comrade Schurz was one of the socialist generals Donnie Kennedy and I dealt with in our book Lincoln’s Marxists. . If you want to read more about Comrade Schurz that the history books will not inform you about, get our book. Schurz is dealt with in some detail and you will learn things about him the authors of the “history” books have seen fit to drop down the “memory hole.”

Sherman had no more use for the concept of self-government than those socialists and Marxists from Europe that were so much a part of Lincoln’s armies. In his book Citizen Sherman, Michael Fellman said of Sherman that: “His rejection of democracy and his semisecret reactionary faith in a military seizure of power deepened through the secession crisis and into the opening stages of his involvement in the Civil War.” In other words, this was Sherman’s attitude before the War even really started. Where do you suppose he got that from? Sherman’s thinking in this direction deepened as the War went on. After Vicksburg, he wrote to his brother, John that “A government resting immediately on the caprice of a people is too unstable to last… (A)ll must obey. Government, that is, the executive, having no discretion but to execute the law must be to that extent despotic.” The wishes or desires of the ordinary people made no difference. All must obey. Period! One wonders where the vaunted Constitution was during all this—in Lincoln’s bottom desk drawer maybe?

This was Sherman’s attitude toward ordinary folks—sheep to be shorn—as they bow the knee to an all-powerful secular messiah in Washington—be his name Lincoln or Obama. Unfortunately, too many Christians are willing to accept that, forgetting that there is only one King, King Jesus, and we are to bow the knee to Him, not to some tinpot dictator that wants to usurp Him and take His place.

As the new Congress files in to take its place in January, start keeping an eye on it and what it does, and if your Congressperson starts leaning to the left, let him/her know in no uncertain terms that you don’t like it—even if he/she does look down his/her nose at you for reminding them who they are supposed to be there to serve. Reminding them we already know what official Washington thinks of us would not be out of line.

A Trip To Northfield

By Al Benson Jr.

I recently returned from a trip to Minnesota, not the warmest place in the country this time of year. I visited with folks I’ve not seen in several years and it was a good reunion, even if the temperature hardly ever got up to freezing.

While there I got to go over to the town of Northfield, which should be a familiar name to many who study history, and particularly to those who have studied some of the personalities on both sides during the War of Northern Aggression. Northfield is a nice little town of about 20,000 and much of the architecture in the center of town is still of the type you saw in many parts of the country, particularly the Midwest, South and West during the late 19th century. Much of it looks very little changed since that time. Over the years we’ve been in many towns across the country that have sought to retain their original flavor and we enjoy them very much. Modern I am not. I like the older, traditional things, which, I suppose, makes me somewhat of an anachronism to the modern or post-modern (or whatever they call them nowadays) crowd.

Anyway, one of Northfield’s claims to fame is that Jesse James and his gang tried to rob the First National Bank there on September 7, 1876. That might seem a long way out of traditional Jesse James territory, but there were reasons for this particular expedition.

To understand that Jesse James was more than just your ordinary bandit out to steal whatever he could, you have to understand the conditions that prevailed in Missouri before, during and after the War of Northern Aggression. Missouri was a state in which slavery existed before the War, but, as an aside, it also existed in Minnesota before the War. I recently read an article on the Internet entitled Slavery at Fort Snelling (1820s-1850s). The article noted: “The officers and civilians in and near Fort Snelling (Minnesota) who used slave labor were in violation of the Missouri Compromise of 1820, which stated that slavery was forbidden in the territory gained through the Louisiana Purchase north of the 36 degree-30 degree latitude line (except within the boundaries of the state of Missouri). Slavery had existed in this region prior to the Compromise, however, and it continued in spite of it.” History books ever bother to mention that? Slavery in Minnesota—what a surprise!

At any rate, the state of Missouri, because slavery existed there, had had, from about 1854, problems with the state of Kansas, which was fast turning into an Abolitionist’s paradise, which it still is today. You can still feel the “we love John Brown” atmosphere in Eastern Kansas as you pass through it even today. But, as the number of abolitionists increased in Eastern Kansas, most of them being from the Northeast or Upper Midwest, so did their desire to “free” the slaves in Missouri, right across the border. Unfortunately for the folks in Western Missouri, the Kansas abolitionists had a decidedly socialist “redistribution of the wealth” attitude in which they felt it their bounden duty to redistribute everything and anything they could purloin in Missouri over into Kansas. Once the War commenced Kansas brigandage was given the cloak of federal legality and yesterdays thieves became today’s Yankee/Marxist brigadier generals.

Although Missouri was considered a “Union” state, though I believe their governor did sign a secession ordinance, the federal armies invaded Missouri, and treated the state’s citizens as prisoners of an occupied state. Lots of good Missouri folks sent their sons off to fight for the Confederacy, but some stayed on at home to try to protect their families and property from the “benefits” of Yankee occupation, and those “benefits” were substantial, especially if you owned anything the Yankees wanted. Missouri resisted—and its resistance forces were called “guerillas, bushwackers,” etc. Families who had sons in the Confederate service were special targets of Yankee beneficence. Jesse James was once, when he was fifteen years old, beaten by Yankee soldiers because he would not reveal the whereabouts of his brother, Frank, who had been fighting for the South, and his stepfather had also been hanged by Yankee soldiers for the same thing. He did survive the hanging but it was no great benefit to his health, being an elderly man.

When the War finally ended and Yankee/Marxist charity was fully able to reign, those who had fought against it in Missouri were promised amnesty if they would come in and surrender. Jesse James and some others rode in to surrender and the generous Yankee soldiers shot him. It was almost the identical situation portrayed in the “Outlaw Josie Wales” movie where “General” Jim Lane, the infamous Kansas Redleg, said of the Southern boys that surrendered “They were decently fed and decently shot.” I guess a bit of that sort of amnesty went on in Missouri that the “history” books forgot to mention.

And, after the War, the Yankee bankers took over in Missouri. Marley Brant, in her book Jesse James—The Man and the Myth observed that: “The Eastern power elite decided to expand its domination of the area after they had gained control of the majority of the Midwestern banking institutions.” Does that little fact give you any inkling as to why the James Gang and others went after the banks? The Yankee/Marxists had made their lives miserable, even those who were allowed to surrender without being shot. This was the only way they could fight back—in effect, steal from the thieves that had stolen from them.

Which brings us to Northfield in Minnesota. Ms. Brant stated, on page 176 of her book that: “Bill Chadwell (one of the James Gang) was in immediate agreement. He was familiar with Northfield and gave his associates some very interesting information. Chadwell informed them that Adelbert Ames and Benjamin Butler were prominent citizens of the town. These two men were no doubt recognized by Frank and Cole as two of the foremost carpetbaggers who took advantage of the people of the South after the war. Ames had been elected governor of Mississippi (a “reconstruction” governor) several years before but had been impeached by that state’s legislature earlier in the year…He eventually showed up in Northfield to join his father and brother. Ames bought a major interest in the Northfield mill operations with money said by those sympathetic to the South to have been obtained from his carpetbagging activities. Ben Butler also had carpetbagging interests in Mississippi and relocated to Northfield…The Southerners had nicknamed him Spoons as a reflection of their opinion that he would steal even his grandmother’s silverware. Chadwell told Jesse and the others that both of these men kept their money in the First National Bank of Northfield. The thought of robbing two representatives of the carpetbagging community must have delighted the members of the gang.” Not mentioned was the fact that Butler was also the infamous “Beast” Butler of New Orleans infamy and that Adelbert Ames was his son-in-law. The carpetbag fraternity that had stolen the South blind was well represented in Northfield.

Ultimately the robbery attempt failed and Bill Chadwell, who was to guide the gang safely back out of Minnesota, was killed, which fact left the gang to try to find its way to safety on its own. In the end, only Jesse and Frank James escaped. The Younger brothers and the others were either killed or captured.

Many over the years have wondered why the James Gang picked a bank so far north to attempt to rob. Most of their robberies had taken place in Missouri, Iowa, Kentucky, Arkansas, and even one in West Virginia, so one in Minnesota seems out of character for them until you understand just a bit about the miserable carpetbaggers and their “reconstruction” governments in the South after the War. The James Gang was, in effect, trying to steal from the thieves. The War did a lot of damage to the South and to the country as a whole. The “reconstruction” instituted by the Yankee/Marxist government in Washington never really ended—it just expanded quietly and without fanfare until we now have it nationwide—via the Patriot Act, Obamacare and a host of other federal programs, all for our “benefit” so we are told, yet they never seem to benefit us as much as they seem to benefit those who institute them, and that ain’t by accident, boys, it’s by design. Connect the dots, folks, and learn to “follow the money.” In 1876, Northfield was one of the dots.
